I’m full of admiration for the D of C playing the piano. I thought she was fantastic. I know it wasn’t the hardest of pieces and that it was pre-recorded, but I thought she did so well. Speaking as one who’s struggling to get up the grades, I know how difficult it is and how nerves can destroy a performance that seems so secure in the safety of your own home. Well done Kate!

I would play the piano for you Calistemon but for two things: we don’t have a piano, and I can’t play one anyway.?

lemongrove Mon 27-Dec-21 12:32:09

Around 7 pm..... and there is homemade apple crumble and custard for afters, get here in time for a glass of sherry first.?

Calistemon Mon 27-Dec-21 12:27:35

Josieann ? looks delicious!

lemongrove sounds good! what time is dinner? Not having been at home for Christmas we have no leftovers.

I seem to be the only person I know that doesn’t have a posh coffee machine, it’s either the 35 year old filter or the two cup cafetière for us.☹️

My French heavy cookware is white ....and like others I shall be filling it with turkey leftovers and veg and wine/ stock for an easy meal this evening.tchsmile

I've just given my black French pot away as I could barely lift it when it was empty, let alone when it was full of boeuf bourguignon.

Right, need a coffee, where's the kettle

Not content with vinegar or sauce ...
since I last looked it's now (getting in) a stew, tough cookies, mars bars, boeuf bourguignon??? How much of the red liquid shall I add, or maybe it's best to just join you with that coffee time beverage?

To answer Annie's question, yes I did enjoy the carol service, very much, and it appeared the congregation did too.

To answer Galaxy's question, I believe one is not supposed to make personal attacks against named posters, only respond to them directly, which is why I wrote deliberately 'the few unpleasant posters' and left it at that.

I wasn’t advising on internet etiquette; I was merely trying to lighten the mood.

Some will stew over throwaway remarks, some will try and get even and get into an argument and others will let it go. Others will just leave the site.

I fall into two camps. Some things I have a little chuckle over and let it go and other times, especially when I’ve been accused of posting stuff I haven’t, I will defend myself to the nth degree. I’ve been on the receiving end of a few pile ons but I’m a tough cookie and can hold my own. It’s not nice though and I don’t use this site to engage in conflict. However, for some it’s very upsetting and they shouldn’t feel that they’re being driven away.

That’s my final word on this and won’t respond further.

Galaxy Mon 27-Dec-21 11:21:17

And I am sorry for dragging up another thread.

Galaxy Mon 27-Dec-21 11:19:55

No I know tickingbird neither of us were really. And it was an emotive thread. Thankyou though. It just gets difficult when people (I am not talking about you specifically) try to say what should and shouldn't be said. If people want to sigh about Kate that's ok. If they want to say she's lovely that's ok too. The splinters from the fence are killing me.

tickingbird Mon 27-Dec-21 11:13:18

Galaxy. Fair enough. I’d forgotten about that thread. I apologise but you know I wasn’t being serious.

I'm trying very hard Ticking bird should I go and stand in the corner?blush

Galaxy Mon 27-Dec-21 11:09:33

It was on the horse puncher thread, you described a situation where a teacher had been guilty of sexual abuse and would posters come on to support that. I used sarcasm to say yes obviously that's what we would do and you replied 'wouldnt surprise me'. Now we were both using sarcasm and I wouldnt dream of saying you shouldn't post that. But you must see it makes it difficult to take advice on internet etiquette from you. As you yourself say you have been in sone spats.

Don't apologise Anniebach, who else has? You only said what you thought as everyone else did. We all have strong opinions maybe we should all think twice before posting.
I was advised to join by a friend who said how helpful and tolerant everyone was. She has since left and last night I was considering it as well. Though why should we be pushed off by rampant Scottish Nationalists who can't even agree to put vinegar or brown sauce on their chips?
Just one last thing what do they put on their fried Mars bars?smile

Josieann Mon 27-Dec-21 10:59:43

Oh Eck remainder (remainer) must be confused ... reminder!

Josieann Mon 27-Dec-21 10:58:14

Galaxy

Again what posters are you talking about.

I assume you aren't getting an answer Galaxy because today's discerning posters don't want to have a repeat performance of last night's comments.
But then, what do I know? I wasn't on the thread, and am a relatively new comer to GN, so just being discerning.
A repeat performance of Kate's piano might be on my menu today though, while I finish off the last of the turkey. Thanks for the remainder about the casserole dish, JaneJudge, I'll need to flex my muscles to lift out my le creuset one today for the mashed potatoes!

Galaxy. Must say I didn't feel much peace and love when you called me a supporter of rapists the other day tickingbird.

I find that highly unlikely so please point to any post of mine where I said that.

Anniebach Mon 27-Dec-21 10:49:00

tickingbird you are speaking of how GransNet was , I said this yesterday so will say no more of it.

Thank you all who were so kind and again I am sorry I was part of the flare up.

Galaxy I think you are well aware and it’s best left at ‘some posters’
Moving on......
