Today is the first day of Sparks 12 days of Christmas free gifts. If you have the app on your phone check to see what you have been gifted.
I have free handcream,my friend had a bottle of snow globe gin.Perhaps I will be given that tomorrow !

Not really impressed with their “offers” so far, other than the first day which is a free pack of mince pies (though I don’t suppose there’ll be any left when I go). The rest have been 15% off a bag of crisps, the tonies one, which is of no use whatsoever to me, and one other offering a % off the full price off something that I can’t remember but wasn’t anything worth bothering about (or I’d probably have remembered what it was). I think sparks has become a bit of a waste of time.

I couldn’t agree more..😬

Same here!

Another here who’s not impressed up to now. Imo, if they gave everyone something free every day or even every other day, wouldn’t have to be expensive products, they’d get more foot-fall in the stores and then people might well buy other non-offer goods whilst they’re there.

I'm not shopping in M&S since they left our High Street this Summer as the nearest store is miles away. Some of the offers can be used online but I'm not tempted by discounts unless I was going to buy the item anyway.

£1 off a shortbread lantern thingy.
It’s getting worse…

Snap ! Bored with this now just wanted gin !

I’ve got the £1 off the lantern today too. I have been thinking about buying one anyway. They did a Halloween version that I bought reduced after the event. GS liked it so only buying for that reason.

£1 off a lantern. Might buy one DH loves shortbread. and the DGD will like the lantern.

Grannynannywanny Mon 05-Dec-22 08:00:57

£1 off the lantern here as well 🙁

Knittynatter Mon 05-Dec-22 10:18:37

Two of us here got the lantern as well! Anyone know how much they are?

Witzend Mon 05-Dec-22 10:26:13

They’re plugging the shortbread lantern thing heavily on Classic FM ads - presumably they’re not selling very well. Still masses of them in local M&S the other day.

I actually wanted just one of their ordinary tins of shortbread - I find the tins v useful - none to be found. However did find one in a motorway services M&S the other day, when we’d only stopped for sandwiches. 🙂

Shinamae Mon 05-Dec-22 10:29:37

One handcream which I don’t like and the rest money off things I don’t want anyway so I just think it’s a big marketing ploy to get us to buy stuff we don’t really want… won’t be working on me..🤨

I presented myself in store to pick up my item and was told "oh we've run out" I said that this happened every single time I get an offer her reply was " well they never send enough stock" I handed over my trolley of shopping and very politely said that I prefer not to engage with companies who mislead the customer, and left to shop elsewhere. I'm still waiting for the free Sparks reusable shopping bag from 2 years ago, why did I think their business model had changed?

I don’t know, there were stacks of the stag tins of shortbread in my local M&S the other day, but no lanterns left, I bought a stag tin for my parents. I got the lantern offer too today, so I’m hoping they will be back in stock this week when I go.

CraftyGranny Mon 05-Dec-22 10:32:39

oh dear, more shortbread but inside a light up lantern today.
I am really not very impressed with the "prizes" and will probably save more in petrol by not going to claim them!

Ziplok Mon 05-Dec-22 12:45:52

The lantern offer for me, too. Won’t be bothering.

Theexwife Mon 05-Dec-22 12:58:46

This is clever marketing, first window has a gift to keep you opening the others, all the others will have money off, and the extra one that you get if you opened all 12 I expect will be a gift. That way people will go to the store to collect their gifts with the hope that purchases are made using the money off vouchers and buy extra.

FannyCornforth Mon 05-Dec-22 13:06:05

It’s not that clever if everyone is grumbling about it.
I think that it’s totally backfired for M&S.
They have built up expectations and not delivered.
Shoppers know when they are being taken for a ride.
If it’s a successful marketing campaign, we’ll see it return next Christmas - but I can’t see it happening

SueDonim Mon 05-Dec-22 14:00:09

£1 off a shortbread lantern. I don’t even like shortbread that much. hmm

Callistemon21 Mon 05-Dec-22 14:24:14

I don't get to M&S very often (are we supposed to go in daily?) but have to pop there this afternoon.

How exciting - will I get a lovely gift or 50p off biscuits?

Hetty58 Mon 05-Dec-22 14:32:36

It would have been so much better if they gave a raffle ticket - and the prizes were something really worth winning. Not many folk will go out of their way for such slim pickings.

Cherrytree59 Mon 05-Dec-22 14:39:47

20% of Christmas decorations that I neither want or need 👎

Theexwife Mon 05-Dec-22 15:32:39

I don't understand why people are complaining, it is a free gift, surely nobody expected something free every day for 12 days.

You dont have to take part.

AreWeThereYet Mon 05-Dec-22 15:35:59

Also discount off lantern. Won't be using that. Like another poster I only use discounts if I'm buying something anyway, unless it's something I really want to try.

Had words with Waitrose recently about all the Christmas stuff they were pushing instead of giving the usual discounts on food we eat and they gave us a £10 voucher 😃
