What did you think? I caught up with it on iPlayer last night just to see how it went as it was his first Christmas speech, and I thought he did quite well.

I also thought it was a very good idea not to be filmed sitting at a desk surrounded by personal photos which could then be picked apart.

I'm sure the GN grin has dentures.

It’s the toothpaste dribbles down my front that are the curse of my life😱

Lathyrus

I had furry slippers for a Xmas present😳

Don't dribble your cocoa on them.

😀

I remember touring Wales when the Welsh Nationalists turned all the signposts round in the 1960s.
It could be very interesting sometimes.

I do drive outside the 10 mile radius but I did know a man once who used to regale us with tales of his father and his father's three friends.

They used to go out for day trips with friends father driving. It may help to picture the Yorkshire Dales at this point. The challenge was friends father would only turn left. So every outing had to be worked in a large circle smile

Us poor old dears better shuffle off for cocoa and an early night
I've just had three Hotel Chocolat truffles coated in cocoa - will that do?

The other week I had to drive to a new destination in the countryside in thick fog at night 😲
Honestly, it does me no good at my age.

I am learning quite quickly that reading comprehension is just about as good as listening skills among some of the denizens of Gransnet.

Typical Volver post.
Manages to be sarcastic, patronising and insulting in one!
😂

You're all right Oreo. I've got three months waiting for a hearing aid. I expect to be duffed up for not hearing quite frequently.

A cocoa sounds rather nice (checked for the dreaded lactose). I had to drive outside my usual 10 mile radius and in the dark tonight. I doubt I will surviveshock

I’m watching White Christmas. You wouldn’t believe how much offence I could take from that, if I chose.

Who needs Frankie Boyle😬

volver Tue 27-Dec-22 22:10:32

If you are trying to get me going, you may as well all go to your beds.

I'm just watching Frankie Boyle, so you're going to have to come up with something really offensive to compete...

😂

I did not. But there you go. 🤷🏼

So sorry Volver Dear.

Then my work here is done. 🪄

Lathyrus Tue 27-Dec-22 19:57:22

Yes, you did. It made me smile😊

Lathyrus Tue 27-Dec-22 19:56:54

Oh yes, thank you for explaining it to me……..

volver Tue 27-Dec-22 19:55:55

Sorry.

Did I just mansplain the meaning of "wearing"?

volver Tue 27-Dec-22 19:54:43

(sigh)

Lathyrus Tue 27-Dec-22 19:53:49

Or perhaps it was wearying. I can’t find it now. Was it in the middle of volver’s mansplaining about government 😬🙄

Lathyrus Tue 27-Dec-22 19:51:54

Wearing, I think was the phrase.

Did you mean wearying?

Mollygo Tue 27-Dec-22 19:42:39

True DA. No need to discuss it elsewhere unless you are inventing GN rules.
Volver pointed out that the repeated comments from one side of the discussion were boring. Do you disagree that repeated comments from the other side can be equally boring?

No, really. Can we just stop with the "We could have had Thatcher/Boris Johnson/Nigel Farage/Jack the Ripper as President" thing?

It's beyond a joke and its getting very wearing...

Yes it’s wearing, from either side, but you can’t allow one without the other.
We could well have had any of those, or even 😱 Gordon Brown or 😱 Tony Blair. Why Jack the Ripper though?
What makes all the pro President posters presume people would pick a perfect or partially perfect President?
We voted for Brexit -remember?

Ah, you are so right Mollygo. But here on GN the conversation has to go according to what others believe. Perhaps we should go and discuss it elsewhere. That seems to be the message.
