How do you buy gifts for grown up family who all say please don’t buy us anything your company is enough, they don’t drink mostly, are all on some sort of diets so wine and chocs are out. I can’t afford experience days for all of them as I have a fairly big family. HELP!
What’s acceptable when they don’t want anything?
What do you do?

I have 4 young G.Grandchildren and one expected in January and these are the only ones I am buying for this year. I haven’t decided what I’m getting yet apart from pregnant g.daughter who is thinking (so far I’ve made a pram blanket in blue with bunnies on).
I might just send some money in a card, I did this for their birthdays and I’m still waiting for a reply, oh well what’s it matter I know I’ve done it.
I dont expect expensive presents from my children, an orchid in a pot, a nice plant, and a cheese and biscuit selection would be greatly appreciated.
Forget the nighties and slippers and Ive got a cupboard full of Dove products which I really must sort out and send to the homeless shelter, as soon as I feel a bit better I will.

I'm selling my pottery at a fair this evening so I hope someone is still looking for small gifts!
I have the same dilemma 😕.
I'll tell the family not to give me anything but I daresay the DGC will expect something.
I have always given each family - there are 4- a gift of a board game or a jigsaw. It probably ends up in a charity shop but that's OK isn't it?
Buy from the charity shop?
missing out thr midde man?

I've bought my grandsons a cow, a cockeral, and my best one was a toilet.
All donated so that families can set themselves up with farming basics, and begin to earn their way out of poverty. smile
I used the send-a-cow foundation, but there are lots similar.

This is what my mother, sister and I do for my brother, who is wealthy andspecifically said he doesn't want physical presents. This year, I have bought the opportunity for a child to have an operation to heal a cleft lip.

What a fantastic gift Musicgirl you can transform someone's life

My dd lends small amounts sometimes only £15 or £20, to people often women, who live in poverty enabling them to set up small businesses.
So far everyone who has had a loan, from many different countries, have repaid the loans, very slowly, but none have defaulted.

One of the links posted here is to a lending site.
I might have a look at that, thanks.

It needn't be a present, either.

I think the one I mentioned is called Lend with care.

MissAdventure Fri 29-Nov-24 18:33:24

Thank you.
I'll have a look.
It sounds ideal, just as a good deed (and I like the idea of getting my money back!)

Will check the name with dd.
