Who else has been eating 🎄presents that were supposed to be for other people?

Only 2 small ones so far, but…

The other week, a packet of National Trust fudge, supposed to be for dh’s stocking.
And last night, several from a pack of Pates de Fruits that were going to a sister. Luckily easily replaced at Waitrose.

I hope I’m not the only one!

Three years ago my sister in law got my DH and I a Lindt Chocolate Advent Calendar and gave it to us before the end of November. We had polished off every chocolate before we had even got to December. My kind daughter got us another identical calendar as she was sad to think we didn’t have one any more ….. we had eaten the contents by 3 December. No one has bought us an advent calendar this year …!

I’’ve bought lots of bars of chocolate to send to my daughter and her partner in Canada - all different, mostly seasonal, varieties.
Unfortunately Canada Post is on strike so there’s no point in mailing it to them right now!
So far I must have worked my way through at least half of this delicious stash of goodies!
Do I feel guilty? Do I heck!!
I’m just about to sample a ‘winter wonderland’ bar with my after dinner cup of coffee!
Merry Christmas DD1!!

Another greedy one here. I would like to eat both your would have been gifts. Last night I was invited out and took food to share. Today I am considering going to the shop to buy more of what I took so I can eat it all myself this time.

When I was pregnant I made my Christmas cake early in November. Baby was due mid December but I had to make another cake a few days before he was born as I'd eaten the original.

It was the elf on the shelf!

Being pre-diabetic, I have a blood test for my sugar levels at the end of December. So no, no tins of Celebrations or anything extra in the house. Cruel timing.

According to my OH, our old dog once found my daughter's Easter egg in her wardrobe, took it out, carefully opened the box and unwrapped the foil, ate half of it then rewrapped and boxed it again! Now, I know Labradors are intelligent, but I never knew he was that clever!

I'm not one to blow my own trumpet, but I have quietly and selfessly been testing mince pies for years.

Many a packet I've put through it's paces.

I bought various packets of chocolates and coins and DH asked me to hide them from him.
He has started mince pie testing.

Mince pie testing is a necessary and gruelling job but thankfully there’s always a few brave people prepared to take it on.We owe them a real debt of thanks for their selflessness.

It isn't me .
It's the wicked Fat
Christmas Fairy .
She gets more devious every year with her excuses .
She has to test just one chocolate in a box to see if it tastes nice and then there's a gap -so she just has to finish them all .
This WFCF has even been known to unwrap presents .
Her latest excuse -
hypoglycaemia .

When I used to hang chocolate decorations on the Christmas tree, the ones wrapped in foil. In the morning when we came down to breakfast a few had been eaten and the foil was just hanging there. We found it was our German Shepherd dog. I thought chocolate was supposed to be poisonous but they didn't affect him at all.

DD's dog managed to open the fridge and raid chocolates. They took her to the vet but she was fine, apparently it depends on weight of dog x amount of chocolate consumed.
She'll eat anything!

Yes, hard work, but someone has to do it

No, but only because I haven’t bought anything yet. Give it time …

Same here 😄

😆 clever doggie.
A neighbour of mine gives her dog a small KitKat bar to eat every day.He doesn’t seem to suffer so he’s either a tough dog or there’s very little actual chocolate in a KitKat.

I don't buy any yummy food gifts ahead of time... far too risky.

Jaxjacky Sun 01-Dec-24 18:14:44

No, but we rarely buy people edibles and I’m not fussed about chocolate.

I dare not even look at my two giant kilogram bags of Lindt chocolate balls and my two giant boxes of Ferrero Rocha chocolates in case I decide to eat them. I climbed on the bed and put them in an overhead cupboard and nearly fell off the bed doing it so I think they will be safe until nearer Christmas.

We are so bad that I asked my mother if I could leave some tins of sweets and biscuits at her house , she phoned me the other day to say she was just walking into the village to replace one of the tins of sweets which had apparently opened itself and quite a few sweets have mysteriously vanished !
