Only 2 small ones so far, but…

The other week, a packet of National Trust fudge, supposed to be for dh’s stocking.
And last night, several from a pack of Pates de Fruits that were going to a sister. Luckily easily replaced at Waitrose.

I hope I’m not the only one!

Guilty as charged. I went for bits and bobs on Monday and one of them is a Marks and Spencer festive chocolate biscuit assortment and I had to slap my hand from opening it up last night. Going to take them to my mother' tomorrow or they won't make it Christmas.

Guilty as charged!
Not just chocolates but cheese and stollen too.

Grandchildrens' Xmas/Birthday/Easter chocolates.
If I know it's there I am soooooo tempted.
Always replace them though.
They know I do it and laugh about it!

Just now. At this unearthly hour. Been up since 4.30. Just saw a box of marzipan fruits. Can't believe I just ripped them open and ate a lovely, squishy orange. Very ashamed of myself. I'll just have to buy some more.

I confess to 2 mince pies eaten as a result of reading this thread and getting the munchies!

Are you sure it was your dog who ate the chocolate?

Never hang tree chocolates up before late on Christmas Eve if you have children in the house 🤶

when the children were small I would buy bars of chocolate for their stockings, and I just couldn't resist, so I had to buy them over and over, right up until Christmas...

We once had a family at school who were less than well off. Mum saved up and bought one of those large Christmas hampers. She hid it away. One of her sons found it and when she unearthed it just before Christmas, much of the contents had been eaten. She was distraught when she brought the children to school. Our Head organised a whip round in the staff room, and I very much hope the family had a good Christmas. We had a lovely thank you note from them anyway.

When I used to hang chocolate decorations on the Christmas tree, the ones wrapped in foil. In the morning when we came down to breakfast a few had been eaten and the foil was just hanging there. We found it was our German Shepherd dog. I thought chocolate was supposed to be poisonous but they didn't affect him at all.

We were looking after a neighbour’s old lab shortly before Christmas a couple of years ago - he found some of my wrapped presents, inc. a pack of dark chocolate ginger - he scoffed the whole lot - and one of those ‘footballs’ of Lindor - he got all the wrapping off but the metal ball defeated him!

I was a bit worried about the chocolate, but TBH he was absolutely fine.

I used to carefully unwrap Easter Eggs which had been given to me for my young children, extract and eat the fillings (Maltesers etc) and then carefully re-wrap the eggs. My children were at high school before they discovered that Easter Eggs had fillings…. #badmother

That should say Santa lollies

Mouse Mon 02-Dec-24 14:53:53

I have often had to replace the chocolate coins at least once. So far this year I have resisted. I have, however, eaten two sats lollies … make that three!

I still do stockings for my adult children as now for my son in law too. Temptations always there.

I have bought and eaten the same selection box several times, eaten replaced etc.

Truffle43 Mon 02-Dec-24 14:32:04

This post brought back some memories and made me laugh. I was a nightmare every Christmas I would eat the children’s selection boxes maybe a couple of times before Xmas eve. It kept costing me money to replace them. I tend not to buy sweet things in advance these days as they talk to me and before I know it they are gone 🐖

MissAdventure Mon 02-Dec-24 14:18:15

I've eaten just a small bag of ccashews, so far, but if it had been a big bag, I'd have eaten them.

Jalyn Mon 02-Dec-24 14:12:53

Just this morning I have been out to buy a packet of chocolate peanuts and a packet of chocolate raisins. These were to replace the ones I'd bought for DH's stocking a few days ago, but had stuffed both packets secretly at the weekend. What are the chances of the replacements lasting until Christmas? grin

Kats2 Mon 02-Dec-24 13:51:36

I bought a kilo of Malteasers for everyone to dive into at Christmas, because we and all love them, including the dogs. The trouble is the dogs and I have been - well suffice It to say, it is no longer a kilo bag of Malteasers…In my defence who can only ever eat one Malteaser…

Cateq Mon 02-Dec-24 13:47:58

We had the same problem of our dogs eating the chocolate decorations off the tree. Now it’s the candy canes that disappear from the tree, can’t blame the dogs as they’ve died years ago. So it’s either DH or one our ACs as I’m not overly fond of candy canes.

A hand raised high here!

Last year I didn’t see my dgc to give them their presents until July! Too bulky to send and just everyone too busy. I had packed them in gift bags and there were little bags of chocolate in them. My excuse was that they might go off before they got them, so I kept eating them and replacing them!
