When I dug it out of our loft this time I had to de-squash most of the figures, and brush a lot of cat hair off. I wish someone would tell him that only an ox, ass and a couple of sheep are allowed in the stable!

He's telling you that he's the Cat of God and that he's come to save mankind! Maybe he doesn't know about the crucifixion part?

That's a lovely book! Must get my GGD a copy. They are probably getting a kitten soon

Those cats in the little nativity scenes do look a bit like Godzilla, Catzilla perhaps?
A friend of mine has a cat that she just can’t keep out of the fruit bowl, he evicts apples and oranges but bananas are allowed to stay which he then sleeps on.

Love this 😂🎄🎄!!

Maybe you could start a business selling windowsill model stables for cats to sit in all year long, as it seems to be their thing. Cats being cats though, if it was meant for them they probably wouldn't deign to use it.

he is gorgeous mind he could be onto something that stable with all the animals and straw must have had a few mice or rats, so a cat would have been essential?

Lalingo Sat 07-Dec-24 17:45:03

He just wants to be included in the festivities of the season. Give him a Merry Christmas hug from me.

He’s gorgeous- lucky you ! 😀

Auntie E, no need to worry about my Baby Jesus(es, at least 5! all knitted from Jean Greenhowe’s pattern) - they are all warmly dressed with a little ‘bonnet’, and are tucked up in a very cosy manger with a blanket and a (knitted) straw mattress underneath.

I just ordered a 2nd hand copy. Might well be a good bedtime story for Gdcs and their cousins - a big extended-family overnight do coming up!

I read recently that smearing Vicks Vapo Rub on some areas of decorations tends to deter cats.

Good luck~~~ Merry Christmas

Have you ever seen a stable without mice, and therefore cats?

My nativity scenes usually include a cat.

As far as my living, breathing cats go, I have a reprensible habit of occupying the window-sill facing the road that at Christmas houses a nativity scene with a various bulky oraments from about the end of September.

The inference being that Trubel and Tigger are welcome to sit in one of the three other window-sills, but NOT in the one this particular nativity scene goes in.

As it it meant to be seen by passers-by, it is tailored to fit the window and the back of the stable has been craftily constructed to hinder access by the cats. Whether this actually works, remains to be seen, as the new nativity scene I built during the summer is still standing on the work-bench. I intend to put it up next week-end.

And bad or not, that ginger puss is ADORABLE.
Are you sure he is not just trying to keep Baby Jesus warm?

It amazes me that modern (and for that matter Victorian) nativity scenes have a the little lord Jesus attired solely in a nappy and a halo. No-one in their right mind would lay a new-born baby down anywhere in so little clothing. Older cribs have a tightly swaddled Infant, which makes sense.

I provide my Baby Jesus with an fleecy cover, usually newly combed hair from one or other of the cats.

Ginger cats are always little b☆gg☆rs
for some unknown reason!
His name doesn't happen to Herod per chance???? 😗

I was feeling a bit low and that really cheered me up. Such a beautiful cat

KathrynP Sat 07-Dec-24 12:12:36

I’m sure he’s trying to tell us that there WAS a cat in the background catching the mice and rats to keep Baby Jesus safe. He just wasn’t noticed because he was busy! Lovely cat.

LadyGracie Sat 07-Dec-24 12:11:05

I couldn’t move him, he looks beautiful and so at home.

One thing the Gospels forgot to say was that the fourth wise man brought Jesus a kitten.
