Well done Maw. I was thinking about that last week.

Miss you, phoenix.

I agree, she was one in a million and did not deserve the cards handed to her. I believe her husband is also dead now.

I think of Phoenix whenever I cook a gammon joint, more so the large Christmas ones for us and family 🍖🍖🍖

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 16-Dec-24 09:30:00

Phoenix does come to mind every year 💐

MissAdventure Mon 16-Dec-24 09:31:39

Ah, good.
I was wondering if the famous gaming curse would appear.
Just like magic, it did.

R.I.P phoenix.
She was a brave and funny woman.

Sadly missed. Wonderful sense of humour and a good friend.
Much love Phoenix♥️

I invoke the curse for an idiot frequently…

Aw, a lovely reminder of a lovely lady. 💕

I bought a large gammon joint, stuck it in the fridge and thought oh heck, what and when am I going to do something with that!

Thank you, RosiesMaw for reminding me of dear phoenix's recipe, I know what to do now.

Here is the ^idiots curse^

She wrote that for our Idiot! He has been promoted (demoted?) to a**e now - I'd love her to be here to do another one.

Thanks RosiesMaw that always reminds me of why I dont cook gammon- I'd be comatose under the table, with the amount of sherry I'd be imbibing grin

What our idiot is called by our sons is not for a public forum 🤬🙀

I think of Phoenix all the time because of this answer to my post.
I had never had Montbretia and there were a lot in my new garden.
I wanted to know if I would harm them by moving them.
Her reply was: harm them!!!! You couldn’t kill the bloody things if you boiled them for hours
Still brings a smile to my face when I look at them. Lovely, very funny woman.

MissAdventure Mon 16-Dec-24 13:59:02

I always think of her version of famous books, with one word changed.
Thomas the tank engine was never the same after that. grin

I can't get into the Christmas spirit without reading Cursing The Gammon - although I have to admit that I've cheated this year and bought a ready cooked one. I'm sure the curse will be required while dealing with the rest of the meal.

I still miss her wonderful stories. I remember one that had her drying her knickers with the hot air hand dryer in a train loo!
