it all depends, but usually down within a few days of 6th January.

Mine are coming down tomorrow. Had enough of them now.

Always 12th Night but especially this year when I was beset with so many demands I didn’t get them up till late. After the effort of getting them up especially the tree I’ll leave them till 6th.

Take mine down as soon as possible - usually Boxing Day and they only go up a couple of days before Christmas Day.
I do like my year round garden fairy lights and I’m looking forward to buying daffodils for inside the house.

I absolutely love to see the Chrustnas lights outside as I walk along the road .
I always feel depressed post Christmas .
I might take one of my decorations down now because it's a failure .
One of my friends took her decorations down yesterday and has given me two fantastic potted trees.
I'm thrilled.
I'll bring them on with water and fertiliser for next year .
Otherwise, I'm helping to remove our decorations down on Twelfth Night at church .

We took ours down just before NY, I get fed up with them after Xmas and am always glad to have a house free of decs for the start of the NY.

Traditionally decorations should be down by twelfth night (Epiphany/6th January). Cribs can stay up until Candlemas.

I'm happy to go by that, but I think people should do what suits them.

We've always taken them down on New Years Day but because we were going to be out NYE and the forecast for the following day wasn't good (we had quite a bit outside), we took them down NYE.

Mine are up for the ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’ as they have been since I was a child. Just sometimes we get the tree before 25 but did not have one this year.so wreath and cards etc stay until 6.

We leave white lights in the shrubs and trees to brighten the darkness, they will stay until the clocks change and come out again in October. The real Christmas decorations are packed away now.

All year round we have some battery candles in glass storm lanterns in the living room and battery decorative lights on the conservatory window ledges all with timers. I feel so much better with light smile.

Took them down yesterday. Always do it before 6th January. House does look bare though!

Mine are all down and packed away. Back to some kind of normality, thankfully!

Ours come down on the 6th
Any lights that the batteries have run out are taken down after new year

My daughter leaves her outside lights on till Candlemas. She feels the same as you do and her neighbours find it cheers the gloom up

Jane71 Fri 03-Jan-25 16:52:16

We normally take our decorations down the day after New Years Day, but its so dark and miserable outside that I'm minded to leave them up for a while. It helps to cheer things up.
What do others do?
