Presents to myself

The good thing about buying yourself a present is that you always get what you want.😄

Lathyrus3, I think many of us have struggled with `spoiling` ourselves. It is nice when we can break free from that thought

I will be wrapping it as soon as it arrives, I won`t even peek at what is inside. I bought perfume for the £50 I needed to spend. Such a hedonistic present

As well as that I get myself a video to watch, after all I only see family for a couple of days. I do like the quiet time. I think I might get the new Downton. I don`t want treats to eat, I am a nice healthy weight now and I soon pile it on and then it takes me all spring to lose it again. If they are in the house, I eat them

My son has a shop and I always think it’s a bit sad when someone comes in and says ‘ Oh that’s lovely. Now who could I give it to….”

I do this every year for my birthday. It’s my birthday next week and I’m planning on buying myself a nice bottle of perfume.

What an excellent thing to do, karmalady and a lovely tribute to your husband. I have been known to treat myself to a wee present now and again and why not? Your choice sounds lovely. An added bonus for me, if I wrapped the present now, is that I will have forgotten what I bought so it will be a real surprise when I open it on Christmas morning.

I used to spin and found it very relaxing, using wool from my own sheep

That kit was an ashford wee peggy and I use her a lot. I have 4 wheels altogether and my first ever wheel was a vintage rappard wee peggy, which I took apart and renovated. I bought the Ashford after my husband died, I needed something engrossing to do

I also have a kromski sonata and a majacraft suziepro

I love to spin, it is so relaxing and I often spin a jumper weight from tops from the likes of John Arbon. The wheel I am using right now is the kromski and I am spinning a fluff called squish, which is alpaca and merino. I am going to make myself a shawl from that

The reason I buy myself a Christmas present is that my late husband always tried to buy me something special and I need more than chocolates or flowers, to fill that hole during the Christmas season

I’ve been hmmming and anhhhing, about an all-singing all-dancing Ninja , but do I really need it ? I’m on my own - more often than not, I visit them and have meals with the children - so still 🤔

I started buying myself Christmas presents when my H had dementia and didn’t know what it was all about.
Since he died I have done the same.
The first thing was a Radley handbag and then an iPad.
I buy nice clothes and things I want instead of need.
My friend who is a lot better off financially than me buys herself really good jewellery, she says she knows he would approve!!

I've done this for years- at least I always get something I like!

I often treat myself around my birthday and at Christmas, why shouldn’t we.

I don't think I could buy a present for myself. I'd want something extortionate like a fabulous piece of jewellery or booking a posh holiday. I'll just be happy with my usual presents of chocs and hand cream.

That gift set looks really lovely, sometimes the colours are too bright in the make up. This year they are much more subtle.

It makes so much sense to buy yourself a gift at least you know you will like it!

It is my birthday next month and I have booked onto a one day craft course and my DH was very pleased I chose my own gift as it saves him a job.
