"I'm going to open this tub of Quality Street and just have 2 then I'll put it back in the cupboard until Christmas Eve"

Which actually means I'll have to buy another tub to go on my Christmas Eve delivery which won't be on special offer as the original one was so will cost me a few more pounds, or they won't have any left and will substiture it with a jar of pickled cabbage.

One anti dote to temptation is the killer aftermath of acid reflux!

Someone in this house has made the sugared almonds disappear. Can’t imagine who!

Just a wild shot in the dark…..you?😁

Almonds are really good for you, lixy.

Not if you just suck all the sugar off and then spit out the almond 🤭

I don't know if you are familiar with the concept that the small amount of wine which disappears in wine barrels ( evaporation?) is called " the angel's share".
Perhaps that is what is happening here, with the chocolates, the drinks,

Yes I had heard that term for the wine, it’s lovely isn’t it? 🧚‍♂️
I think you could be right about the chocs and drinks, they are just taken by angels.

Re " The Angel's Share", check out the track of the same name, by mother and daughter duo Chris and Kellie While, from their album " Indigo". Beautiful harmonies and voices. xx

I'm doing ok so far with the Christmas goodies, not even had a mince pie! My downfall is an open box or tub - as long as things are sealed they are safe!

Take care xxx

Try M&S The Big Mix. Like Quality Street used to be, and they have coffee creams.

Am I the only one who thinks Hotel Chocolat is vastly overrated.
I find their plain chocolate underwhelming and their chocolates very sweet.
Perhaps just my taste buds but it is very on trend so must be good.

You’re not the only one!
They’re pricey, but on a visit to the Lake District dd2 discovered Friars of Keswick. We’ve had both their ‘chocolate nut platter’ and their liqueur cherries -whole cherries with stalks in dark chocolate - both superb.

Friars is now our go-to for any really special chocolate present. We’ve found delivery to be very quick, too.

My lie "I may allow our children to help, apart from nibbles and afters."

I love to cook and I love to do things as I wish, so I will.

That reminds me of the joke about the vicar visiting the old lady 😀

headline news - seen at Sainsburys today - refill packs of Quality Street - suitable for those in need post eating the originals ☺️

I only like dark chocolate and am a diabetic, so I find my best way to resist temptation is to buy milk chocolates for other people and then there is no interest in eating them at all. I no longer make christmas cakes and mince pies as I live alone, but allow myself an occasional small mince pie if I am out at a coffee morning or at the whist drive. That way I have nothing here to pillage, which is a help, but my major temptation is to buy bags of already cooked chestnuts which I do enjoy, and they are really moreish, so that is my guilty secret scoff, which I find impossible to only eat one or two. Ah well its not so bad as it goes I think.

That none of us like icing or marzipan and eat our Christmas cake like a rich fruit cake without either.

Just found a box of maltesers I'd bought as a little birthday present and had hidden from DH's temptation. The birthday has long gone by I can't let them reach the sell by date can I?

lindiann Mon 15-Dec-25 14:04:42

Always remember my Dear Mum. She bought a tin of Chocolate Munch Mallows and put in the wardrobe, every time she made the bed she would have a couple, by Christmas all gone lol

leeds22 Mon 15-Dec-25 14:05:20

Drat, you've just reminded me that the Christmas box of Celebration is calling to me.

sharon103 Mon 15-Dec-25 14:11:33

I'm being very good.
I'm on Santa's good list grin

My husband and I are just laughing at this thread, we’ve eaten a tub of roses and heroes, drunk a bottle of baileys and started the advocaat, I blame the dark evenings 😁

sandye Mon 15-Dec-25 14:30:25

Well @keepingquiet, if we oldie carn't be children at Christmas it's a boring life smile

Retired65 Mon 15-Dec-25 14:36:14

I have now wrapped up the Cadbury's selection boxes for my adult children to stop me eating them. I had to buy some more because I kept tucking into them. The tin of Roses is still unopened.

polnan Mon 15-Dec-25 14:36:16

wonderful thread, I am not like y`all here, been very good, I am now going to stop being so righteous and go and buy presents and help myself as a treat! thank you one and all.

MadAsAHatter Mon 15-Dec-25 14:38:23

I have today bought my 4th large pack of Lindor chocolates “for Christmas”. Over a week to go so hopefully I can contain myself until at least 24th this time (but I doubt it very much!)

Sadie5803 Mon 15-Dec-25 14:41:01

We were talking about this on Saturday with my son and daughter in law, like most people, we have boxes and boxes of goodies for Christmas, it all comes out on Christmas eve, but some of it is still there in January, February ect ect, its madness 😠

Lesley60 Mon 15-Dec-25 14:44:29

I’m the same opened a tub of heroes for my grandsons of course, then opened my m&s black cherry roulade for their parent
Of course I didn’t finish both off 🤣

Up2u Mon 15-Dec-25 14:58:34

Thank you for the reminder. Dark chocolate covered Brazil nuts. And Bendicks chocolate mints added to shopping list. Unfortunately Cadbury chocolate coins intended for the kids to pick from the tree didn’t quite make it
