"I'm going to open this tub of Quality Street and just have 2 then I'll put it back in the cupboard until Christmas Eve"

Which actually means I'll have to buy another tub to go on my Christmas Eve delivery which won't be on special offer as the original one was so will cost me a few more pounds, or they won't have any left and will substiture it with a jar of pickled cabbage.

grin mine is that I won't open the Baileys before Christmas, I have lasted 3 days so far.

I have already eaten two slices of Christmas cake. My will power seems to be non existent lately.

I bought a frozen M&S dessert for Christmas day, which I am spending alone by choice. I tried one slice to make sure it was nice enough. Needless to say it has all gone, and very nice it was too! It was a raspberry and mascarpone meringue roulade. Now have to buy another, if they haven't sold out.

The first box of Lindor ( bought early in case they run out, you understand) disappeared a couple of weeks ago😳

Pigs in blankets here! More on order.

It was rather short sighted to not buy 2 tubs of Quality Streets, just in case, ferry.

Always full of good intentions kittylester, always. hmm

That made me laugh out loud! I bought a tub of Quality Street at Halloween and as Halloween turned out to be a none event for one reason and another, I put them away, for Christmas ……. for about a week!! Ditto a pack of dark chocolate brazils I bought to put in GS’s Christmas stocking - until his mum happened to mention that he didn’t care for dark chocolate. You can guess the rest😬!

RosieandherMaw Sat 13-Dec-25 09:34:23

Mince pies- just one (or two if they’re mini) and before you know, the box is gone.
I have to put the boxes in the freezer as soon as the shopping arrives!

Also “We must meet up in the new year” - “Love to - keep in touch” hmm

Astitchintime Sat 13-Dec-25 09:39:26

I have hidden three large toblerone………now I can’t find them! 😱 and one is a stocking filler for DGS. And I know I haven’t eaten them.

These tins of chocolates are so diminished these days, as are the selection boxes. Roses and I think Heroes piled high in Sainsburys, they were £4 the other day, with Nectar. I was going to buy the grandchildren one each as part of smaller gifts that go under the tree. Now they're £7 angry I always get a lecture from o/h about putting off buying things "until later" mainly because I don't want temptations such as Cadbury's confectionery lying around the house. It might be deemed rubbish, not enough cocoa solids and all that. None of that highfalutin information, would be enough to stop me breaking into the good old fashioned bog standard, what once passed for chocolate.

Are you sure? 😬

That’s a favourite trick of mine too, putting things away in safe places never to be seen again🤭is there an alternative universe that exists in the back of cupboards and wardrobes that objects fall into?

Oh dear, ticked off most of these already grin

A lovely light hearted thread with some very funny posts!

I buy early for Christmas and therefore temptation is around for much too long.
I've 'broken into' so many presents which have needed to be replaced.

Witzend Sat 13-Dec-25 10:11:10

I’m feeling very virtuous for having bought 2 large boxes of Bendicks chocolate mints, and having wrapped and posted them off to DSis and niece (their favourites) in the US, before I was sorely tempted!
DSis phoned yesterday to say they’d arrived and she could smell them through the gift wrapping! I’d sent both to her though they don’t live together - she said she was tempted to keep them both….

I’m proud of myself this year as I’ve had my Baileys bottle for nearly three weeks. Usually have to buy several bottles.

This is how they get us to spend our money. Have offers knowing we can’t resist 1. the offer and 2.more importantly THE TEMPTATION 😂

Beechnut Sat 13-Dec-25 10:15:35

Unopened I must honestly add 😂

keepingquiet Sat 13-Dec-25 10:15:54

Good grief- are we all children here?

My son ate all the Christmas biscuits I bought. Not a single one left for me.

I won't do my Christmas shopping until a few days before for this very reason.

The shops won't be empty and I'll have saved money and weight gain. Maybe I'm just weird...

But if you replace them now, think of the guilt free pleasure when you find them.

Shelflife Sat 13-Dec-25 10:27:57

Ferry. I have done exactly that with the QS!! Bought a replacement tub yesterday - they will remain in tact till Christmas . Fingers 🤞

Usedtobeblonde Sat 13-Dec-25 10:34:38

I have both Roses and Hero’s tucked away in the wardrobe, 2 whole weeks now still unopened.
Now the Aldi Cherry Liqueurs, mentioned on GN last week is a totally different story, one box completely gone , one started and one to go.

Oreo Sat 13-Dec-25 10:37:26

We bought 3 bottles of Baileys when they were on special offer, one bottle gone already😋
Am starting on the advocaat now, snowballs!

Oreo Sat 13-Dec-25 10:38:56

I won’t mention mince pies again as I’m starting to look like one had so many.
Chocolate I can live without.
