"I'm going to open this tub of Quality Street and just have 2 then I'll put it back in the cupboard until Christmas Eve"

Which actually means I'll have to buy another tub to go on my Christmas Eve delivery which won't be on special offer as the original one was so will cost me a few more pounds, or they won't have any left and will substiture it with a jar of pickled cabbage.

Someone in this house has made the sugared almonds disappear. Can’t imagine who!

Just a wild shot in the dark…..you?😁

Almonds are really good for you, lixy.

Not if you just suck all the sugar off and then spit out the almond 🀭

One anti dote to temptation is the killer aftermath of acid reflux!

A box of chocolate liqueurs. All gone !

I dont like mince pies, or the tins of mixed sweets fortunately. we never had the tins of sweetst as children so never got used to it.

Still in the cupboard:
1x Mulled wine Mn S
2x special choc truffles M n S
large for 4 ( just for me) posh Christmas pudding (love it)
Medjool dates

Freezer - my Christmas chicken dish, goose fat potatoes, posh frozen parsnips, enough for 2 days lots of treats frozen fruits.

It's the Mulled Wine I am struggling with, sitting there on the top shelf with these long chilly evenings

To buy - posh vanilla ice cream for the Christmas pud, and fresh veg.

(I'm driving up to see family after Christmas and food will be ordinary, which I mostly prefer)

Shut up you lot. I’ve got my pre-diabetic review coming up next week. It’s not fair.

Aw shucks, you rumbled me. Guess I’ll just have to stump up for the replacement box now. πŸ˜†

I often buy my husband’s Xmas card early as the choice is better….. can never find it though when Xmas arrives. Happened again this year but an unexpected bonus was the Valentine Card I bought 2 yrs ago and promptly lost turned up in the search for the Xmas card. I somehow feel ahead of the game now. I’m putting it in the safe. Can you all remind me on 13th Feb! πŸ€ͺπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I'm having a square or two, or three or four of this, my friend bought me back from Jamaica.

Or you could drive round this lot labatz and sell it? A kind of home delivery service.

Mind you with these nibble lot you’d need to do a second run before Christmas I bet … 🀣

Am I the only one who thinks Hotel Chocolat is vastly overrated.
I find their plain chocolate underwhelming and their chocolates very sweet.
Perhaps just my taste buds but it is very on trend so must be good.

IMHO I don’t think Hotel Chocolat are anywhere near as good as they were a decade ago. Everything somehow seems so much sweeter these days, to me anyway.

I find all chocolate to be too sweet but make an exception for Toblerone, but only the giant ones of course.πŸ˜‹

Not wishing to sound smug.hmm

My bottle of Baileys, purchased LAST YEAR, is still on the wine rack, unopened.

The BB date is 8/26, so still fine to drink THIS YEAR.

It’ll go nicely with your old jar of mincemeat πŸ₯³

bought a shed load of Christmas stuff to take with us when we go away for Xmas. i have cracked it as all the stuff for that are now locked in our van; tins obviously wont hurt and cakes etc.
i did buy some cheese etc but that has probably gone so will be sending hubby to get more before we leave.

Oh Mollygo didn’t know about Josephine Tey audio books! Will search now!

Grandmabatty Sat 13-Dec-25 16:45:43

I'll keep those mini mince pies for visitors.
Nope, didn't happen

Mollygo Sat 13-Dec-25 16:41:11

Less fattening but equally irritating, I bought a set of 5 Josephine Tey audiobooks to listen to over the holiday-helps with preparation. I’m already on book 3.

December’s greatest lie? I’ll eat all the Christmas goodies now and lose the weight in the New Year… 😁

My only concession to chocolate has been the Niederegger assorted marzipan chocolates from Amazon (just looked and they’ve sold out) and M&S plain chocolate stem gingers (also sold out). 😭😭 I usually buy a box of chocs from Hotel Chocolat but the price is crazy now so I haven’t. I prefer cheese really.

I have a bag full of various chocolates in front of me, all intended to take as gifts.
πŸ€” Will they still be there when we go to visit?
DH is worse than me!

Prepared three hampers for family a few weeks ago. List for replacements getting longer.
2 bottles of Baileys. (Probably three after the weekend)
3 boxes of Aldi cherry liqueurs (replaced twice already)
3 boxes of mince pies, delicious.
1 box of Ferraro Roche ( this was not greed, necessity after remembering dil nut allergy).
