Auntieflo
I was so lucky to win a competition, the prize, 2 nights accommodation in a London apartment. Couldn't believe it, as I never win anything. Sorry, I did win £3.00 in a Bingo game when on holiday with my parents, it was a lot of money to a youngster. Back to the London break, the day we had chosen to travel, the London underground were on strike, but bless their hearts, there were lots of volunteers pointing bewildered travellers in the right direction. The apartment was very comfortable, and well equipped. It was situated in Aldgate East, the old east end, and lots of building, regeneration going on. We had a trip up the Thames to Greenwich North, passing Canary Wharf and the big banks, waved to our grandson,(not sure he saw us
, then took a 'flight' on the cable car across the river, enjoying a cream tea at the terminus, lovely.
Thank you Gransnet for my prize, DH and I thoroughly enjoyed our couple of days.
Sounds like you had a fantastic time Auntieflow, despite the tube strike!
