I love being a Grandma and feel it is grand to share in my grandchildren's lives without being intrusive, listen to the confidences when they need to talk, play with them in a non-competitive way, tell them about the "old days", cook with them, swim with them, garden with them, forage with them - the list goes on and on. What a privilege it is!

It's grand to be privileged to care for grandchildren. To have the time and patience to play, read and explore. Visiting castles and building sandcastles. With both parents working, it's grand to care, and giving them back to Mum, it's good to share!

I remember how grand it was going to my grandparents houses when I was a young girl and how I loved the time spent with them. Now I have my own grandchildren I think it's grand spending time with them and hope they will remember time spent with their granddad and me as grand too!

Being there for your grandkids is the most important. Spending time with them.

GRAND doesn't just mean you had four figure Wealth
when you're not too GRAND its due to bad Health
If talking of GRAND Parents its the parents of yours
who love you and spoil you, idolise and adore,
as for their GRAND Children the apples of their eye,
if I win its a GRAND occasion and that wont be a lie xx

suffy Thu 02-Oct-14 07:12:36

You get the very best of times with them. You get to do all the fun stuff, spoil them , treat them to things their parents wont give them and then at the end of it all you get to hand them back and get a good nights sleep! As he leaves we get love you grandma and granddad ....the best feeling ever. Its always fun at grandmas house!!

samatherton85 Thu 02-Oct-14 09:57:21

I think Grand In Grandparent is for the knowledge & support they share.

Not caring if you make a fool of yourself on the swings, not worrying about the mess when your baking with them, not giving two hoots at the stares you get singing wheels on the bus LOUDLY on the bus.

Doing silly walks down the pavement avoiding the cracks, jumping over man hole covers mines.

Using your entire airing cupboard contents to make a den the size of the lounge.

Loving rainy days so you can go puddle splashing, then back to Grannys for hot chocolate a warm bath and lots of cuddles.

Aint life GRAND!!
