Grandparents are grand because

But mostly grand because they bind the family with love

I love to be part time help and looking after my little ones when needed. I feel really helpful.

The GRAND in Grand Parents means that they do anything for their own kids & their grand kids. Their grand kids are an extension of their own kids & they can relive bringing up kids again but are able to hand them back at the end of the day.
They also pass on their knowledge but do not criticize or judge.

Remember the days when you first had children and money was tight now as a grandparent you can with their parents permission spoil them.
Remember the days when your children played up and you were under stress but you had to carry on carrying for them without scaring them etc, now when the grand children play up you just hand them back to their parents.

Always being there through thick and thin

Grand for babysitting and reading books and listening to them reading their own school books!

Grand for taking them to school and nursery

Grand for being able to enjoy the things we did with our own children - walking - swimming - meeting up with friends at playbarn - icecream palours - playgrounds - seeing National Trust properties with new eyes - adventures in the country - the list is endless - but it keeps us young and interested in the next generation.

All good fun and very entertaining after the initial hard work when very young babies and toddlers.

Carrying on a conversation with an 18 month-old, where he is blissfully unaware that you can't understand a word he's saying.

the ability to give them back at the end of the day, covered in muck, hyped up on sweets, full of cuddles, and having had a great day and know you aren't the one who has to calm them down get them to bed and do it all again the next day is wonderful: but the glass of wine and the relaxing with a book at bedtime with that knowledge is the truly grand thing.

The weekend sleepovers. They're fab

The joy of spending time with little people again. Only this time you're not in charge so you get to focus on the fun without any of the worries that come with parenting.

Of coarse all the fun stuff like spoiling and playing with them. But the Grandest joy as a Grandparent is seeing your son/daughter or yourself in them. I even see my own Grandparents characteristics in my Grandson. Being reminded that you are a part of that new generation is really Grand.

I feel Grand knowing the love I gave to my son is now a part of my grandchilds life but exponentially!

It's just the pure pleasure of seeing things through young eyes - their sheer delight in discovering the world and their ability to be in the moment and enjoy simple pleasures. And their unconditional love and trust.
