Attention all gransnetters, we're giving away a fabulous set of DVDs worth £199.42 courtesy of the lovely people at Twentieth Century Fox. The bundle includes a huge variety of films and television series such as Modern Family, Bones, The Fault in our Stars, The Book of Life and many more - perfect entertainment for all the family during a miserable month of April showers.

To be in with a chance of winning we want you to tell us which movie you would screen (and why) if you had your very own cinema for just one night. The more funny and outrageous the better. May the Force be with you all smile

*Congratulations trisher, you are the lucky winner. We LOVED the hilarious account of what you would have everyone do whilst screening South Pacific!*

Yankee Doodle Dandy, in which James Cagney won an Oscar for his potrayal of George M Cohan. It is also Cagney's only song and dance movie. I was brought up on a diet of old black and white movies, especially those starring Cagney, Bogart etc. But for me Yankee Doodle Dandy is special. Cagney was an amazing dancer and this film is a tribute to his apprenticeship spent in vaudeville. Watching Yankee Doodle Dandy and I can almost imagine my father sitting next to me. Bliss.

Some Like it Hot would be my choice..it made me laugh when I first saw it and raises a smile every subsequent viewing. Recently saw it with my 9 year old DGD who also laughed out loud.. but could not quite understand why women did not wear trousers as then it would have been easier to pretend to be a woman! Cross generational films are good!!

Grease! Who could not love this classic!?

janerowena Fri 10-Apr-15 22:57:22

101 Dalmatians. Because I think that Cruella de Vil had a very bad press, and was a much misunderstood woman in need of a little pampering. grin [removestonguefromcheek]

I loved it when I was little. I went through every emotion known to Little Madam.

I would choose "Paulie" as my most favourite film ever.
The reason is that I once had a parrot and it flew away and seeing this film I am given hope that he may still appear.

Ha joking .. It's still a great film and I recommend to anyone.

I have experienced Deja vous a couple of times. It was quite an eerie feeling and even though it was some years ago I can still remember the time very clearly!

imacmum Sat 11-Apr-15 10:35:03

Gone With the Wind, just because it's the best film ever. And the author only wrote it because she was recovering from a car accident and had read everything in the library so decided to have a go herself

Granna123 Sat 11-Apr-15 18:35:11

The Devil Wears Prada so I could get all the girls round, drink some wine, eat some popcorn and chocolate and generally have a laugh!

seb3003 Sat 11-Apr-15 19:22:35

Definitely Kinky Boots, great underdog story line, fantastic soundtrack and Chiwetel Ejiofor is stunningly funny

scooter Sat 11-Apr-15 20:36:23

Mamma Mia (singalong version) because although I can't hold a note, love singing along with my family and makes me feel better as my own daughter flees the nest for new adventures.

kaizen99 Sat 11-Apr-15 21:14:19

I would screen Dr Strangelove, as it is the most under-rated film ever made. Peter Sellers deserved an Oscar for his performances, as did the scriptwriters.

donglemouse Sat 11-Apr-15 21:22:40

the lego movie because everything is awesome

sineaddimmer Sat 11-Apr-15 22:33:20

Ghost, I love a classic love story which has a bit of everything in it, romance, ghosts and action

Stef1972 Sun 12-Apr-15 01:55:52

I would have to say it has to be The Breakfast Club with the iconic brat pack of Judd Nelson, Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall, Molly Ringwald, and Ally Sheedy. It really brings home what my schooling was like and how I sometimes behaved to teachers. It is such an iconic eighties film.
