Why do you travel? What drives you to venture far from home and see sights you've never seen before?

Collette have spent the last 100 years taking people all over the world, and along the way they've learned that travel isn’t about the places you go. It’s about you and your reasons for going.

And everyone has different reasons. They can be big - a promise to a loved one, fulfilling a lifetime goal. But they can also be small - the blue water in Capri or the cuisine in France.

The reason doesn’t have to be happy for the trip to be important and fulfilling. In fact, the most powerful reasons probably won’t be. But they will be personal, deep, meaningful and maybe even surprising.

As the longest-running tour operator in North America, Collette has provided guided travel for 100 years. With trips to all seven continents, Collette’s guests fulfil their deepest travel aspirations in a variety of ways with travel styles that are diversified to suit every traveller’s personal style.

So, for the chance to win a £300 voucher, tell us - what's your reason for travel?

Please post your entries by 11am 24 September. Usual T&Cs apply.

We travel for the experience - to see the world from a different perspective & hopefully to learn something new! The world can start to seem a very small place when you stay in the same town all your life - but by travelling beyond those boundaries (& this doesn't necessarily have to mean a round the world trip!) you can really change your viewpoint & open your mind.

ritas2 Sun 23-Sept-18 20:47:48

I travel because I love to get out and do things instead of sitting at home thinking what shall I do be it visiting a local place or visiting somewhere else in this big wide world

I travel to see new places and experience new things; to see places that were important to my family in the past and enjoy good food and drink

for adventure/experience/memories to relax because i am worth it

I travel to different places for different reasons. Sometimes for quiet and relaxation, other times to experience vibrant busy towns and cities with food and culture different to those I am familiar with.

I find travelling a great way to reset my brain!

I travel to get away, and experience another way of life, food, scents, and weather, and to recharge my batteries!

I enjoy the change of scenery and being far from my everyday life. I prefer to visit friends abroad for drinks and food instead of trying to fit in all the main sightseeing attractions.

Edenar Sun 23-Sept-18 19:27:18

I need a change of scenery, to see new sights, to learn, evolve, broaden my horizons.

I travel regularly to Switzerland as my son and family live there but often we then cross the borders to other countries.
Before my son moved overseas I travelled rarely but now I love it.

Hi peeps
This is only my second post although I've been a member for some time. My reason for travelling is to escape. It's so hard bringing up my 2 grandsons. I need the break. Luckily hubby understands that while he's at the office he gets to escape. He's aware that I do the majority of the child rearing so is very understanding. 5 weeks in Australia every other year to visit my son and other 2 grandsons. I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have that escape

galadrial Sun 23-Sept-18 17:53:02

To experience new countries and cultures, but my favourite things to esperience are new food and drinks. Then when we come home to try and replicate the recipes and have at least one recipe from each country and region we have visited.

stephenrigby Sun 23-Sept-18 17:04:43

I travel to quench my interest in the world and to just get away from things.

Carolann99 Sun 23-Sept-18 16:53:24

I believe travel broadens the mind and it's exciting to see for myself places I have read about & seen on TV, especially the wonders of the nature as the world around us is changing so much.

pegros Sun 23-Sept-18 16:05:17

To experience and see the sights and scenery for ourselves. Unforgettable
