I love the look of joy they have on their faces when they see me waiting for them at the school gate and then the cuddles when they get to me .....bliss

HillyN Sat 06-Oct-18 22:56:59

Their beaming smiles when they see me, cuddles on the settee while we share a book and having an excuse to play with their toys and games!

When my gorgeous two year old grandson tells me I’m his best friend.

The pride and love is the most precious thing one will enjoy with grandchildren. I have three grandsons. One is just a week and is just adorable and want to look and watch him. It's lovely to hear them call you.....mine is "dadima". I love to hear it being said...love to read, play enjoy dinner together. I don't think you can describe the love between grandchildren and grandma.

Grandchildren keeping grandparents young.

Being able to offer help and support so that my kids and grand-kids benefit from my experience

cathisherwood Sun 07-Oct-18 08:43:23

Re-doing the simple things that made your own children happy like puzzles and board games and playing outside and then starting to rely on them to introduce you to new technology and modern terminology

Sharyboo Sun 07-Oct-18 09:23:20

Just being able to watch and listen to their giggles and smiles. ?

Seeing the excitement on their little faces when we Skype matches how I feel too. Thank goodness for electronic communications nowadays! I get to see lots of photos and videos of their daily lives too. Geographical distance is so hard to bear sometimes, when all you want to do is scrunch them up in hugs

Seeing my 5 year old Grandson’s face light up when I arrive at his house, and having him sit on my knee to show me his latest toy or book. It makes the two hour journey all worth it! x

Oooh, so many... but one of the best in a perverse sort of way is when my grandchildren cry when I am leaving and sob 'dooon't (sob) go (sob) Grammy(several sobs)' and cling to my legs! Then I know I've cracked it as a grandmother!

My favourite thing about being a grandparent is being able to appreciate all the time I spend with my grandchildren: seeing and helping them learn and grow, listening to all their news, smiling at their funny observations of the world, singing loudly with them in the car, reading with them and to them, and having the best cuddles in the world. My three gorgeous grandchildren are 9, 4 and 2. When my own three children were growing up I was busy working, and tired when I got home, so I missed out on a lot of this. Being a grandparent is truly the best job in the world.

When my little grandson (who lives miles away from me) arrives to see me and hugs me for such a long time that I think he will never let go......

fialcross Sun 07-Oct-18 12:44:17

I love the way they totally trust me and are genuinely delighted to see me. My granddaughter always gets upset when we have to part. We have a very close bond and make each other complete.

my 18 month grandson coming over , lifting up my tee shirt and blowing great bit raspberries on my tummy!

Lorelei Sun 07-Oct-18 14:57:35

My favourite thing about being a grandparent would be having the time to play and teach, to watch them grow and develop. Grandparents can play a huge role in the lives of these little ones - influencing, encouraging, inspiring and allowing imagination and creativity to flourish.

I can't think of one favourite thing, every moment is special with them even when we have to tell them off.

Marydoll Sun 07-Oct-18 16:53:11

My favourite thing is when she turns and says, grinning: Gran, you are my favourite old lady in the whole wide world!

Miriam Sun 07-Oct-18 17:14:17

The little look on her face when I have a small gift for her which is nearly every time I see her. It is nana's prerogative to spoil grand children, after all we will not be here for ever!

etheltbags1 Sun 07-Oct-18 19:08:28

I love a cuddle with my dgd and snuggling on sofa watching kids stuff

liz1970 Sun 07-Oct-18 20:15:24

Hearing them say Grandma, melts my heart smile

Choaky Sun 07-Oct-18 21:32:00

I have two grand children . One lives a fair distance but the other lives close by.
I mind her a lot for her parents work commitments.
I love snuggly story time.
Nice and clean and snoozy . She has her storey and says "nana jo, your the best nana in all the world , I love your stories."
Bless her. She's such a loving pleasant caring child and it all makes it worth while. X

We never thought we could have a baby so when this precious toddler and I set off for a walk and and he looks up trustingly into my face and
curls his little hand around two of my fingers my heart melts every time.
