The Elves and the Shoemaker! I loved the idea of the little elves coming out each night to make the shoes.

I likes The three billy goats gruff because I loved the voices my Mum and Dad used to do. Thanks for getting me to remember a great memory.

As a child I was always fascinated by the Pied Piper of Hamelin.
I was never concerned about the poor little children being lured away but have to admit to now being terrified of rats ?????? !!!!

Cinderella, every little girls dream was to be a Princess.

ETHELgertie Thu 26-Sept-19 14:34:26

I loved the story of Rumplestilskin when I was growing up. It was the way that he was just so sure that no one would be able to guess his name.

Snow White - loved the dwarves, Mum read it to me before going to sleep, I went into another world in my imagination. Think I always fell asleep before the end. Magic!

Angelwings Thu 26-Sept-19 13:35:04

Three Billy Goats Gruff, because it was exciting and involved the unknown.
I never tired of hearing the tale or acting it out in make believe to scare myself.

Cinderella. Growing up we had a large open fire and one of my chores was to lay the fire every morning. I always thought I was so like her. And indeed I did meet my prince and lived happily every after!! A real life fairy story

Snow White and the Seven Dwarves
When I was about 9 or 10 was in a play where I was the lead dwarf and had to lead on us all on stage skipping and singing: Hi Ho, Hi HO it's off to work we go! Lovely memories!

emouse Wed 25-Sept-19 22:35:58

My favourite had to be Cinderella, dressing up in gorgeous ball gowns, the prince falling in love with her and as for that nasty step mother and her daughters - what goes around comes around.

dexmum Wed 25-Sept-19 21:22:50

The Little Red Hen was my favourite, I loved the idea of her collecting the corn and making her own bread, but I always made my Mum change the ending so she shared her bread with the cat!

Hansel and Gretel - Loved the story and the house made of Gingerbread

Parsley3 Wed 25-Sept-19 16:19:57

The Emperor’s New Clothes. I loved the idea of people pretending to believe something that is blatantly untrue. I wanted to be the child who blurts out the truth.

Baggs Wed 25-Sept-19 14:54:59

I loved the story of the Shoemaker and the Elves so much that for many years I wanted to be a shoemaker/cobbler myself.

Or an elf.

Used to practice making shoes out of cardboard and string.

Truffle1 Wed 25-Sept-19 14:43:03

I thought most fairy tales were rather scary! I did like Beauty and the Beast, much kinder story and definitely a happy ending.
