Rapunzel was one of my favourites as a child. I loved her long blond hair (mine was short and brown) and the idea of being rescued by a handsome prince. Probably not very PC these days!
It has to be Peter Pan. I was taken to see it every Christmas. Magical in the theatre. As a child the flying is real. I can still enjoy it. Love Nana the dog. Happy memories.
Mine was definitely Cinderella who remained lovely to the core throughout some terrible times and for whom life eventually turned around and came good in the greatest of ways - true love. Also, I am a firm believer that a beautiful pair of shoes is the answer to many things!
My favourite was Snow White! My father used to re tell the story over and over with a little set of finger puppets I had - I used to call them my little people. Treasured memory
Difficult to choose, as I liked them all, but I think my absolute favourite was Cinderella, because she did go to the ball and did marry her handsome prince whereas her ugly sisters and step mother got their comeuppance in the end.
Kids love to be scared and find the tension in fairy tales thrilling. Little Red Riding Hood did it for me. She was suspicious of her suddenly strange looking grandmother, but too innocent to believe there was anything wrong. Fear without danger. That’s the key.
This will confirm that I am old!!! Way back in the 1980s my daughter had beautiful auburn hair that she could almost sit on. As it had to be plaited for school, when it hung loose it had the most gorgeous waves! My daughter's favourite fairy tale - and mine - was Rapunzel! Her two younger brothers always used to sing "Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair whenever her hair was being brushed! Ah fond memories!
