Cinderella. I loved the thought of having a fairy godmother who could make all my dreams come true.

I used to love Enid Blyton's tales of pixies , elves and faries. My favourite was a book called Pip, I kept it into adulthood , before it got lost. In the front was a dedication'Love from Mummy, Christmas 1967' It was a magical book and thinking back on it now makes me think what the children of today have lost.

My favourite fairy tale was Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. I used to imagine myself as Snow White and my brothers and sisters were the dwarves.

Snow White and the seven dwarfs as I always felt sorry for the dwarfs when they came home

helen55 Thu 19-Sept-19 15:22:31

The Emperor's New Clothes. As a child, and now grown up I always seem to speak too plainly for those around me. What's wrong with plain, honest speaking ? Say what you see and shame the devil.

I always enjoyed Cinderella. She was a charming heroine, with two ugly sisters who were mean to her.

When Cinderella met Prince Charming and they became devoted to each other, it made a lovely dream that every girl could win her dream.

The Ugly Duckling because I hoped one day to be rid of my freckles which I did!

Cinderella

grandmac Thu 19-Sept-19 14:33:57

The Little Matchgirl. A sad one but it mesmerised me when I was younger. I longed to help her and couldn’t understand why the adults passing her by didn’t. It still brings tears to my eyes now!

sarahanew Thu 19-Sept-19 14:23:43

Cinderella. She was kind and put upon, her step sisters selfish. But she got to go to the ball and the Prince fell in love with her. He so wanted to find her again that he searched th e whole of the land to find the foot the glass slipper fitted. Ah, so romantic! And showing that kindness gets paid in the end

elsboot Thu 19-Sept-19 14:18:19

The Three Billygoats as I loved pretending that there were trolls under any bridges that I went over!

sheilads105 Thu 19-Sept-19 13:58:38

mumagain Thu 19-Sept-19 13:43:50

My favourite was the little mermaid - it could make me laugh or cry in equal parts.

dencoy Thu 19-Sept-19 13:43:29

I loved Peter Pan and even more so when I saw the film. A world where kids rule and magic - what more could you want.

bernie777 Thu 19-Sept-19 13:43:04

The elves and the shoemaker - a lovely tale with an emphasis on how to help without being too obvious

nosyla Thu 19-Sept-19 13:39:04

Pinocchio was my favourite , because I loved the idea of the little boy coming to life .

WharfedaleGran Thu 19-Sept-19 13:37:51

Always little Red Riding Hood! I really wanted a red cloak just like hers, and a little basket. Just the right amount of danger with the heroic woodcutter coming to the rescue and a happy ending in the little cottage in the woods.
