Gorleston beach in Norfolk, 3 miles of beautiful almost empty sands, lots of room to build complicated sandcastles, lots of space to fly kites, lots of space for picnics, lots of space to relax!

Why take them abroad when there is so much to see here and why subject them to long journey and have a lot of fuss while they are little. No, I would take them to the Gower. There is so much to see and do there which they would enjoy. Native flora and fauna, old things to see and some myths too. The bonus would be good weather occasionally.
