playing gin rummy and watching old black and white films with my grandcher. playing other card games with elderly friends/neighbours. collecting wild garlic, strawberries, elder berries and flowers, blackberries and winberries with nan while walking through woods and up mountain behind our home. helping her to make wine and pies with them, then pine cones, holly and mistletoe in winter to decorate.

As the eldest of 4 we were never short of playmates and one of our favourite games was to use a skipping rope to tie a red ride on bus to the back of my bike , sit 'the twins' aged 3 onto the bus. My sister aged 7 sat on the seat off my bike and I pedalled like crazy from the back door down the garden path with the little red bus careering behind after us.

Luckily if you fell off the bus you landed in flower bed :-)

My Mum wasn't impressed - but that was because of the squashed flowers not the babies flying into the bushes !!

Loved the game memory, my Nana had an old stack of cards that she would mess up and lay out and we would play the game of memory for hours. I even remember some of the cards!

Agnapoop Mon 18-Nov-19 19:50:18

Hopscotch, we would draw onto the pavement with chalk or big boulders and play for hours

My Kettler Go-Cart. I loved that it had gears, and I felt so grown up and loved “driving” around in it. It was the bees knees!

i always loved playing dominoes with my dad & if he ever took us to the pub with him, i’d take my set & play anyone who’d give me a game!

Fuzzy felt. I loved it. Making pictures by sticking felt pieces to the board. Loved the hospital set in particular

Playing hopscotch with my sisters, such a simple, innocent game that cost nothing and kept us entertained for hours.

Anne1948 Tue 19-Nov-19 08:24:50

I used to spend hours drawing cut-out paper dolls and outfits.
I’d have piles of “Designer(!)” dresses, jumpers and skirts etc for all occasions!
Hours of fun that cost hardly anything!

I can still remember standing on a chair, wrapped in one of my grandmother's aprons ' helping' her make scones - and they were absolutely delicious! When they were baked we would have a 'picnic' - a large white tablecloth would be spread out on the lawn if it was fine, or the living room floor if not, and she would lay out a pretty teaset and we would have the scones with homemade raspberry jam and clotted cream she made herself.
My grandmother died nearly 40 years ago and this would have been at least 60 years ago.......nostalgic memories ❤️

Getting a leg cut from my mums tights and putting a ball in the end and making shapes on the wall with my body and ball, I think i drove them all mad with the thudding

Hours & hours of cycling on our local common. I felt so FREE!

sallyc06 Tue 19-Nov-19 10:27:46

I didn't have many toys and being an only child was quite lonely, so I used to go out on the pavement and find a stone to draw out hopscotch on the pavement and surely enough someone would always come and join in. Was free and lots of fun!

I always loved building dens in the playing field near my house. There was a small stream that we had to jump across to get to our favourite area and one day we made a ropeswing, it was so much fun & I miss those days terribly!

Dreaming as I swung higher and higher on the swing in our garden, which was fastened to our beautiful golden plum tree.
