on boxing day we all ways used to play bingo .and my mum used to give us xtra presents she had brought for us we were so excited

I used to love putting on a puppet show using an old wooden clothes horse and plenty of imagination.

Lived in the country,then by the sea.
Certainly rock-pooling with my brothers,paddling and swimming in the sea.
At both places ,hide and seek (mum was cross when I got some tar on my dress) and foraging,mainly blackberries,mushrooms and (perhsps on an abandonned allotment site)rhubarb.
I still love being by the sea ,and still pick blackberries .I can't see rhubarb now without having happy memories_grow it on allotment now!

Playing schools. My sister and I arranged our dolls and teddies around a wooden board, gave them bits of paper and pencils to ‘write’ with, then with our toy blackboard (not allowed to call it that nowadays I know) set up on its easel, we chalked up sums and spellings for them to ‘learn’.
They were good pupils, very quiet and well behaved!

'Stuck in the Mud' was an epic game and lovely childhood memory that remains with me forever!

My fondest memory of my childhood at Christmas was the stocking containing fruit, spinning top, simple games, family gatherings, games and being blessed with love

We had a lot of fun playing a form of tig that we called Rally-O-One-Two-Three. It involved hide and seek but with the hiders getting back to base before whoever was It spotted you. Sometimes there were fantastic mad dashes to touch base first.

I used to get to school at 8.30 so we could play Hot Rice first you got in a circle legs apart someone bounced the ball In the middle and whoever’s legs it went through was ‘it’ Everyone scattered and the one who was on had to run and throw the ball at whoever they could catch and if they hit that person they joined them until everyone was caught if you could find somewhere to get ‘off ground’ you were exempt from being hit
I loved that half hour

When I was really young I enjoyed hopscotch and when I was a little older my friends and I used to love French skipping.

Riding my rusty old bike madly and dangerously ( to me) up and down the country lanes where we lived.The feeling of freedom and exhilaration as I whizzed along was just wonderful.

I was an only child, but never lonely as every other house in the area seemed to be teeming with children to play with. Apart from jacks, hopscotch and skipping games, we also played a tag game called "Stuck in the Mud": one person was the chaser, we all ran off and when caught, we had to stand still until released by someone crawling between our legs! We also managed to play this on bikes, but don't ask me why - I still have the scars to prove it!

'Playing out' was the way we spent our free time - all the old favourites like French skipping, Jacks and rollerskating. On wet days my sisters and I would make a den under the table and loved to picnic there!

I remember doing my first tapestry of a ginger cat on a green background, that has lead to a lifetime of tapestries various. That first one was framed by my Mother and she still has it 57ish years later!

There are a number of activities that I look back on most fondly because in my childhood days my friends and I always played out on the street. We played skipping, whip and top, marbles, roller skating etc but I think my favourite was hopscotch, a game with a bit of skill but it mainly kept us fit and healthy!

We used to play Elastic, a very long loop of elastic with 1 person each end, stretching it from each side with their ankles. Various jumping, hopping etc over it, crossing over the elastic, then it went up to the knees and was played all over again. Used to do it for hours!

I used to love our annual holiday in Wales skipping over the sand hills with my 6 brothers and sisters looking for old bullets in the sand from the last war and chasing the waves on the shore. Simple pleasures.

Battleships was a family favourite and still is! Cries of, you sunk my battleship echo fondly!

We used to play Monopoly a lot and it would keep us quite for hours.

My best friend and I used to roam the woods and quarries around our town all summer long. Each day we would be on a different adventure playing all sorts of characters, building forts, dens or making bows and arrows. Before television, the saturday morning pictures provided the ideas. Long days, that in memory, were always sunny.

I was a “looking for crabs under stones on the beach” girl too. It was definitely a favourite activity. When we had friends over I loved dressing up and “make-believe”. Also pretending to be a pony and cantering round the garden!

The thing I look on most fondly though is probably dressing the Christmas tree with my family. It was SO full of excitement and good cheer!

Bobby Charltons Casdon Football - I loved this game and still have it. He is my all time sporting hero ⚽️⚽️

Having time to read loads, I really miss it now!
