Fishing with my Dad.

Playing cards with my grandma she would teach me all sorts of games to play. I love the one to one with her.

I used to love being in the garage with my grandad, helping him to make wooden furniture for my Barbie and Sindy dolls. The best thing that we made was a four poster bed and my grandma sewed the curtains and bedding for it once it was made.

Us girls played '2-ball' up against the old toilet block doors all playtimes& lunch breaks when i was in primary/ junior school.(bouncing 2 rubber balls or tennis balls up against the door,or wall,together,bit like juggling but against a hard surface) i think there was a chanting of some rhyme or other,but i can't remember it now.some girls could do 3 at once,sadly i wasnt dexterous enough for that :/ Oh,and 'cats cradle' with string or wool.

I was given a Puffin book called 'Something To Do' when I was a child and it gave me so many ideas - from making fudge and coconut ice to knitting a teddy for my youngest brother.

Yes and cards too Baldmar,at home.i became quite good at pontoon. Still am

Riding our bikes for hours on end or endless games of cricket

My mum would make a tent for me with the kitchen chairs and a sheet!
In would go every cushion in the house and my books and I'd literally sit inside it all day reading with her.

I can remember when I was very young (about 6 or 7) taking my teddies and dolls to the park for a picnic on my own. My mum used to give me one of those tiny Hovis loafs they used to make and I would take a tea towel as a table cloth and we would have a great time. Now, ofcourse, you would not be able to let a child that young out on their own.

I remember, there were two woods near where i lived and we used to love making dens and collecting conkers.!
It was so much fun and adventure, that we were always late home and threatened with a spanking.!!!?

Drawing. I used to draw a lot.

I used to love skating. I got roller skates for Christmas and, even though it was snowy and icy, I strapped the skates on and was off. Then, when I was 14, we lived in Canada and I bought a pair of ice skates. I was so lucky as there was a specially made ice rink in a park nearby and I would skate, happily, on my own.

Across three fields and stream was an abandoned brick kiln. The empty buildings made perfect dens - the base for all sorts of stories and imagined scenarios. The steep sides of the water-filled pit where once they had dug out clay for making bricks made amazing slides... all the more exciting because we had to stop sliding just before we reached the water. No one knew how deep it was, and it was more than our lives were worth to go home wet. Our mum never seemed bothered about how filthy we were when we arrived home in time for tea. I've often wondered why... perhaps the extra washing was worth getting rid of us for two or three hours.

Collecting petals from flowers in my grandparent's garden (gosh, weren't they tolerant?!) and mixing with water in jam jars to make 'perfume'!! It was actually a rather vile smelling sloppy mess, which I forced the adults to smell, and declare how nice it smelt! I used to spend hours doing that. Happy days!

Hopscotch was the best and so underrated now!. there is one in my school but no children use it unfortunately.

Playing make believe and building dens either in the local wood where it was safe to play back then or sheets over backs of chairs indoors

Loved playing hopscotch and elastic, not sure if it had a proper name. Just a long piece of elastic tied in a ring, then stretched out between 2 kids around their ankles then third one would have to jump into the ring and have to do certain tricks

I lived in a pub and loved playing darts.
In those days there was no all day opening so my friends used to come in most days after school for a couple of hours. Mum would sometimes provide glasses of pop and we felt so grown up. (we were about 7! ?)
My other passion was reading.

All the children living close by used to play games together like cricket & anyone could join in. It was a very easy going time of life

I used to love Sunday’s - everything was closed in those days and after lunch we’d have mum and dad’s undivided attention playing cards, monopoly or my favourite, Cludo.

Roller skating & pogo-sticking - great fun (and you didn’t even know it was healthy exercise!)

I used to buy the Bunty comic and cut out the clothes to put on the cut out doll, loved it had hours of fun.

Roller skating down a big hill I wouldn't dare do it now ?

I used to put a hard back book on a roller skate then sit on it and fly down our steep hill. I think I invented the first skateboard!

Playing marbles all over the school playground and grass (in the summer) and winning against the boys was very satisfying ☺️.
