It's that time of year again...

If you are stuck for gift ideas for family/friends, look no further than our round-up of the best books for Christmas. From psychological thrillers to women's fiction, autobiographies to cookbooks (and everything in between), there really is something for everyone.

And, as ever, we are giving one lucky person the chance to win everything featured on the page...worth over £800. All you have to do is tell us, on this thread, who you'd most like to find under your tree this Christmas (and why).

We will be drawing a winner at random at midday on Monday 16 December. Terms and conditions apply - more details on the page.

I would like to find Simon Reeve under my Christmas Tree. Almost finished reading his book Step by Step and saw him live 3 weeks ago. I found his adventure tales fascinating and would love to hear more first hand. He was also very personable and I'm sure would add lots of laughter to the festivities.

Stephen Fry! He could keep us all amused with his wit, knowledge and ability to retell the Greek myths in such a captivating and amusing way - the perfect guest on Christmas Day!

I'd like to find Billy Connolly, he could spend the day telling me some of his amazing stories and keep me entertained, sounds perfect to me x

We lost Mam this year (it would have been her 94th Birthday today), so to have her here for another Christmas would be wonderful. If seconds were an option it would be lovely if Dad could join her and even better if Grandma and Grandad were here too. It would be the best Christmas ever.

I'd like to find Mark Knopfler (and the rest of the Dire Straits band if there's room). We would sing together - somehow my voice would be good enough to sing with them, it is Christmas after all! We'd talk about the important things in life and feel the whole range of emotions from sad to joyous... and we would dance until we collapsed laughing... then enjoy a lovely Christmas meal with all the trimmings.

I would love to see my mum and my nana under the tree. Neither were around to see their great grandchildren and I ´d really love it if they could see how the family has grown.

I would love to find George Michael under my tree singing Last Christmas. A fabulous singer, very unassuming and privately incredibly generous to a lot of organisations and individuals.

I love lots of different genres and it’s always great to chance upon someone new. I’d be delighted with a new Marion Keyes

Would be wonderful TO MET MY LATE HUSBAND FOR COUPLE OF HOURS, TO TELL HIM HOW MUCH I MISS HIM! He died suddenly in our bedroom of COPD, would be lovely to met him again. We had super marriage of 37 years and met on a blind date.

My Dad as I was in intensive care when he died so I never got a chance to say goodbye

I’d love to find Mary Berry under my Christmas tree so that she could guide me through Christmas Dinner without getting in the inevitable flap. She would also be delightful company at the table, telling us tales about her life and dishing the dirt on Paul Hollywood.

Sennett17 Wed 20-Nov-19 12:59:23

I’d love to find the Vicar of Dibley under my tree....I could relive the funniest sitcom episode ever by feeding her our Xmas dinner!!

ladytina42 Wed 20-Nov-19 13:01:23

I’d love to have my sisters and Dad there. We are far flung throughout the country with children and gc of our own so have never managed a Xmas together for years.

I would love to find daughter number 2 under the tree as she lives and works in Thailand and we miss her so. What a treat that would be !

AmandaN1 Wed 20-Nov-19 13:11:20

My mum. Lost her in March and would love to feel her arms around me for one last time.

topsy7 Wed 20-Nov-19 13:11:56

For me it would have to be my Grandad under the tree he died over 30 years ago and I still miss him. As an adult now there are so many things I would like to ask him and talk to him about. We would each eat a bowl of Junket with freshly grated nutmeg on top. Great memories xx

sarahanew Wed 20-Nov-19 13:12:44

If only it were possible, I'd love to find my mum under the tree. She passed away in 1985 when I was 21. I'd give anything to have the opportunity just to spend one day with her, say all those things I never had the opportunity to say and fill her in on all that's gone on in my life since

craftygran Wed 20-Nov-19 13:13:24

My grandson was born sleeping 6 years ago, I would love to find him under my tree so I could go live him a big hug and kiss
