It's that time of year again...

If you are stuck for gift ideas for family/friends, look no further than our round-up of the best books for Christmas. From psychological thrillers to women's fiction, autobiographies to cookbooks (and everything in between), there really is something for everyone.

And, as ever, we are giving one lucky person the chance to win everything featured on the page...worth over £800. All you have to do is tell us, on this thread, who you'd most like to find under your tree this Christmas (and why).

We will be drawing a winner at random at midday on Monday 16 December. Terms and conditions apply - more details on the page.

A big bunch of friends from all over the country - I’d need a big tree to get them all under!!

I’d like to find The Two Hairy Bikers under my tree. They could cook dinner and be very entertaining guests too.

I would love to find contentment under my Christmas tree.

I would give it to my best friend as she has had a terrible few years after her husband passed away

I would love to find my husband (although I’m not sure he would fit under as he’s six foot!!) - he has been away a lot for work and will be away over Christmas. Books have been my respite from boredom and loneliness so super important to me!

I'd like to have my maternal grandmother back just for one day as I still miss her and there is so much I'd like to know about her life.

susiesioux Wed 20-Nov-19 13:19:44

Mary Berry to help me cooking Christmas!

MichStew Wed 20-Nov-19 13:21:07

Helen Mirren - because I'm sure she'd have lots of interesting stories to relate from her varied life and career.

Finnrock Wed 20-Nov-19 13:21:36

Axl Rose from Guns N Roses

AmberMarie Wed 20-Nov-19 13:23:58

Michael McIntyre - so, so funny and imagining him sitting under that tree is hilarious too!

I'd like to find Brendan Kavanagh under my tree, I've watched his youtube videos and he plays Boogie Woogie piano, he'd really cheer Christmas up with some great music on my piano.

My big brother, who passed away in september aged 42. we're all a bit broken and i miss him so much

I would love to find my beautiful dog who recently passed away aged 16. I cannot put into words how much he meant to me. He wasn’t just a pet he was an important Member of our family. I suffer with mental health and when I’m not feeling well my dog always knew. He gave me purpose and we both knew that we needed each other. I will never find another person or animal that was like him x

Just my parents who made my childhood Christmas’s so happy. They would have loved to meet their great grandchildren so much.

Pinkypoo Wed 20-Nov-19 13:45:58

My lovely Aunt, aged 96, who used to be with us every Christmas, but now lives 200 miles away. She made this time of year so special when she was with us and would look very cute if she was under the tree with a bit of tinsel in her hair ???❤️

Flicker3 Wed 20-Nov-19 13:50:14

Wish I could have my Mother & Brother here for Christmas ( sadly both have passed) as would love to give them all my love & cuddles. So, Idris Elba will have to do!

libbyann Wed 20-Nov-19 13:50:42

I would love to find my DS and DD, as children, under my tree. My DS died by suicide four years ago gone 10th November and my DD suffers so, so much without him.
To be transported back to those happy Christmas times would be the best present I could wish for.

TM278 Wed 20-Nov-19 13:53:16

Sir David Attenborough, checking the roots of my tree, ready for replanting

Direne3 Wed 20-Nov-19 13:53:42

I'd love to find the 12 year old version of my 81 year old husband to reassure him that the terrible treatment he was suffering would end in a few years and he would later have a loving family of his own.

reelashosser Wed 20-Nov-19 13:54:10

My Mother, sadly no longer with us these past 25 years.

It's strange how we never get used to missing our mothers. My daughter and her family are emigrating this week, and I would dearly love to be able to discuss this with my Mother and feel that lovely sense of security and comfort that only a mother can bring.

austin23 Wed 20-Nov-19 14:00:20

My 2 grandchildren as my daughter has not allowed any contact for 10 years all because I asked her & her husband to repay the monies owed to me when I helped them to move home ??

I would love to find my Mum and Dad, now deceased, under the tree, one hours conversation would be wonderful!
