It's that time of year again...

If you are stuck for gift ideas for family/friends, look no further than our round-up of the best books for Christmas. From psychological thrillers to women's fiction, autobiographies to cookbooks (and everything in between), there really is something for everyone.

And, as ever, we are giving one lucky person the chance to win everything featured on the page...worth over £800. All you have to do is tell us, on this thread, who you'd most like to find under your tree this Christmas (and why).

We will be drawing a winner at random at midday on Monday 16 December. Terms and conditions apply - more details on the page.

I'd like to find my Mum there. So many things I want to ask her and share with her.

Id love to find my boys as children under the tree all excited about their presents. The magic of Christmas, I miss this, still have empty nest syndrome. They'll be home but having your babies at christmas is a fantastic time sad

Nigella to cook our Christmas lunch.

I'd really love the idea of both sets of my grandparents there.
They were gone too soon. Just to hear about their lives and experiences, would be fascinating.

giddyypixie Fri 22-Nov-19 08:00:16

I would love to find Jack Reacher under my Christmas tree (not the Tom Cruise version though - could you get any farther from the description in the books?!). I reckon he'd be pretty handy to have if you got in a tricky situation!

Jason Momoa - Why not!

As we have grandchildren and great grandchildren I would love to find J K Rowling under our tree to ensure we have a magical Christmas ?

SarahTF Fri 22-Nov-19 10:19:51

This seems as unlikely as asking to meet someone famous, however I would love to find a great new love under my tree this Christmas. Or while out and about!

Stmiddy Fri 22-Nov-19 10:22:15

I would most like to find my daughter Emma under the Christmas tree. She has just started studying for a degree in primary school teaching and will be staying in her university city of Sheffield this Christmas.

My Dyson has just given up on me, it caught a bit of cotton thread and the engine burnt out. Don't even have any Red cotton so it's a mystery where it came from, I did not even notice it on the floor whilst hoovering. So sad to say the Dyson has got to go to the Big Dyson World in the Sky. Farewell my little friend.

I would like to find the man of my dreams under the Christmas tree. A supreme lover and excellent cook, someone who will cater to my every whim without complaint or want of anything in return.

Do such presents exist? I do hope so.

A little friendly alien as my grandson is obsessed with outer space and he would be delighted.

GillyMMc Fri 22-Nov-19 12:56:41

Id like to have all my family under the tree, its not very often we can be all together so this would be a real Christmas treat

Bobbie47 Fri 22-Nov-19 13:16:51

Mary Berry to give me some tips on how to cook a fabulous dinner plus a free demonstration to share with family.

I would dearly love to find my late husband under the tree on Christmas morning. It’s bitter sweet day as Dec 25 th was his birthday so I miss him more than ever then.
While he was so ill I lost interest in reading but have now found my way back into books and this generous prize would keep me reading for a long time to come.

Authoress Fri 22-Nov-19 13:47:22

The protagonist in my book, Wimer the Chaplain - who was a real person and a fascinating man.

AJL123 Fri 22-Nov-19 13:57:25

I would like to find my ggg grandmother there and then I could ask her to spill the beans on all the family secrets from her era and help me with my family history brick walls.

Dublin29 Fri 22-Nov-19 15:00:56

I would so love to find my sadly deceased Mam (died when I was 13) under the tree, she passed her own love of reading/literature on to me. We could talk about books, of course & the Grandchild & Great Grandchildren she has missed out on.
