It's that time of year again...

If you are stuck for gift ideas for family/friends, look no further than our round-up of the best books for Christmas. From psychological thrillers to women's fiction, autobiographies to cookbooks (and everything in between), there really is something for everyone.

And, as ever, we are giving one lucky person the chance to win everything featured on the page...worth over £800. All you have to do is tell us, on this thread, who you'd most like to find under your tree this Christmas (and why).

We will be drawing a winner at random at midday on Monday 16 December. Terms and conditions apply - more details on the page.

I would like to find a tangible ball of love and peace so that I could give it out to everyone to hold and keep with them.

I would love to find my granny under the tree, she was the most loving granny ever and although I was the oldest of 30 plus grandchildren she made me feel so loved and special. As a grown up I moved a long way from her and alas when she died I hadn`t seen her for a long while if only to see her once more and tell her what a lovely gran she was and how much I loved her.

I think I'd quite like my grandparents back for a day - that's quite greedy I know, but I miss them.

I would love to see both my husbands and my family all opening presents under the tree together. Unfortunately, it doesn't happen and it does make me sad.

I would like to see my mum - she passed away just before Christmas three years ago and left a huge hole in my life. Its true we never say in a lifetime all those things which we hold in our heart and then one day its too late. Its definitely made me more able to tell people close to me how much I love them and I would like to tell mum just how much she meant to me.

It would have to be my late husband (though if I could have more, my parents and his too, and even my brother who died as a baby). To have one last, wonderful family Christmas would bring joy beyond words.

Andreas Scholl, the counter tenor. He could sing me one glorious aria to set me up for the day.

The first thing I'd do is just laugh at finding my mother under there. She'd be unable to stand up for laughing and we'd be calling for Champagne. There'd be nothing but laughing and her nipping out for a fag break. Her listening to every little detail of our lives completely wrapt (unwrapped too) and holding by now a large brandy. Then we'd do Brexit and the election, Come Dancing and rude people. I'd feel life enhanced, good and full of happiness.

My mum ... she was an avid reader and encouraged us all to love books as much as she did ... her spirit lives on within us but could imagine her sitting under the tree just enjoying a good read x

I would like to see my nephew from Oz who is currently undergoing treatment for depression. I'd love to give him a big hug and some support.

My grandaughter, our first grandchild, who was born in the Philippines in August and who we haven't yet met or had chance to cuddle.

bdavies Mon 09-Dec-19 13:48:34

I would like to find Tom Hardy under my Christmas Tree - a girl can hope!

KBywaters Mon 09-Dec-19 13:57:56

I'd like to find Sir David Attenborough under the tree and he can make a wonderful documentary about my families Christmas tchsmile - I'd also love to give him a homemade mince pie and a warm glass of mulled wine and hear all about his amazing adventures!

chrissie13 Mon 09-Dec-19 14:12:30

My late mum, who I have inherited my love of books from, we would have great fun looking through all those books!

williamsgwynfa Mon 09-Dec-19 15:09:46

I would like to find Michelle Obama under the tree.

Phloembundle Mon 09-Dec-19 15:21:55

I would love to find Charles Dickens under my tree so he could tell me all about how he came to write A Christmas Carol. Then he could read it to me in front of my roaring log fire while we ate mince pies and drank mulled wine.
