I think we are both a tad competitive so it doesn't work that well. Unfortunately neither of us is a completer-finisher so nothing tends to get completed. A friend once pretended she didn't know how to change a plug. She did this because she said, if her OH knew she could do it, he'd never change one again just leave it to her every time. So I guess it is a good idea to let them take over the tasks you dislike. Perhaps some reverse psychology is called for???

My husband used to have a very pragmatic view of life often telling me, when I had issues at work, to be the person I was at home; but we're often not able to be. I miss his advice, support and love so much.

My ex partner tried to take over anything I tried to do. Everything had to be his way, I was not allowed an opinion or the space to do anything for myself. It was very debilitating and I lost all my confidence. I responded (after much soul searching) by ending our relationship. I am now learning who I am and what I can achieve alone.

It used to bother me and I wanted to be able to do something on my own but now I enjoy sharing things with my partner. He does have useful ideas and opinions sometimes!

I usually end up giving up whatever it is because I get tired of feeling like I'm doing it wrong.

I do all the painting and decorating. On the very rare occasion he gets involved he does a very poor job ensuring he never has to do it again.

I don't have any real problem with handing over anything thats classed as mine as sharing is easy for me, have a nice day and take care .

He wouldn't dare. He has his own interests that I'm definitely not interested in.

we have different interests but would be very refreshing if he expressed a desire to join in with some of my hobbies/interests - would be a miracle actually!

Well I like knitting and reading and he doesn’t so there you go sorted!

The only time it annoys me is when he goes through food cupboards and points out products that are past their sell by date. I often use goods that are a little out of date and we are all alive & healthy

I always did all the cooking. Everyday he complained and then the kids would moan they wanted something different. This went on for years until I finally snapped and threw his dinner at him as he moaned once to often for my liking. I told them all to cook their own meals. So hubby cooked for the kids. After a short while I could smell burning. Then heard a crash. He had cooked sausages which were raw but set fire to a tea towel. In trying to put out the tea towel. He’d thrown a pan of water on the tea towel. Dropped the pan with a crash which in turn ( the crash) cracked and split the ceramic hob. He then had to pay for takeaways for two weeks and get the hob replaced. Oh I was a school cook at the time cooking 300/400 dinners a day. So cooking was definitely my thing. It took a long time before I would let him in the kitchen again.

When it my turn to cook dinner he always comes in to and interferes frustrating

Nothing, we've learnt to share our spaces accordingly.

Once he realizes that whatever I was doing isn't half as interesting as he thought it would be, he just disappears - usually half way through what ever it was leaving me to finish and clear away the mess! Oh well - I did once try and take over putting together a flat pack chest of drawers and decided half way through that it was way beyond me and bits were going in the wrong places so I quietly disappeared and left him to sort it all out - Horses for courses I suppose!

I simply tell him he's trying to take over something that is my domain and ask him to respect that. It usually happens again though!

I don't have a partner!

We both have our own interests and hobbies, but sometimes we share. I darent try to cook any of his signature dishes though!

My partner and I have different interests: I am into crosswords and Sudoku Killers and he is into magnet fishing. Sometimes, I ask for help if I am stuck on a crossword clue (English is my third language) and he is chaffed to bits. He offered to take me magnet fishing along the canal: I will be picking nettles for herbal tea, watching birds and passing boats and he will be throwing magnet into the water, cleaning the canal from rubbish.

Sadly, I no longer have a partner, but I would have been absolutely delighted if he’d wanted to share my interests.

I let him help, many hands make light work.

As I am now on my own if he was here I’d let him do whatever he liked I miss him so much

I’m delighted and excited but then remember to manage my expectations! His interest is usually short-lived...

I would love my partner to be more involved in something that's mine, we could share more moments together

We tend to like different things, but I am delighted if he wants to get involved. I tend to like outdoors activities & appreciate the company. He isn’t really someone who would try & take over though - would annoy me if he did.
