My Grandson likes 'The tiger that came to tea', we read that a lot!

I wish that I had duck feet by Theo LeSieg. My children all loved this book, they still quote it! My grandson also loves it, but due to the horrible split up of his parents, we have no contact, yet ?the book is sitting waiting ready for the day we get to see him ?

Anything by Julia Donaldson is wonderful but my 3.5 year old grandson particularly likes The Snail and the Whale. It has everything - beautiful pictures, rhymes, repetition and gives an important message about nature, ecology, the ocean and the world.

Has anyone noticed a deterioration in their grandchildren’s behaviour over lockdown? My darling 3.5 year old grandson, an only child, has started wetting and pooing in his pants. He has been to the GP who gave a course of antibiotics in case it was an infection but he is still doing it. The pooping only once so far but sometimes the wetting could be up to 4 times a day but sometimes not at all. I am worried that it might be psychological and if so, how do we deal with it?

My six year granddaughter, who has Autism, is obsessed with the Operation Ouch books - so that's what we read! I'm learning from the books too!

The tiger who comes to tea is read over and over. Read the smartest giant in town with my younges grandson but due to lockdown not been able to do so lately. Just missing everything.

The Borrowers. My all time favourite book.

"The Little Gingerbread Man" was read to my grandchildren from the age of about 12 months, a lovely gentle story they enjoyed, it seems, forever. And it was even better when they were old enough to 'help' make and bake gingerbread men. Which they still ask for now in their twenties and which I shall, no doubt, be asked for when their children come along - I do hope so! cupcake

'Please don't chat to the bus driver' by Shen Roddie and Jill Newton is our favourite as it is full of fun and great to join in with as everyone shouts out 'Please don't chat to the bus driver!' throughout the story.

Colin McNaughton - There's an awful lot of weidos in our neighbourhood

It has to be the Magic Faraway Tree across the range of my DGDs from 18 to 4. But we always had stories and DVDs of Thomas. DGD aged 7 still loves to look at a Thomas board counting book.

I enjoy reading the stick man it's such a lovely story the adventures he had and the grandchildren faces when you read it there in awe it's so nice to watch their actions

For me, with daughters and granddaughters, it has to be Peepo! by Allan Ahlberg. I always felt it encouraged interactivity and felt like a experience we could both enjoy. Must be nearly forty years old by now.

I don't have a favourite - it's more important to read what my grandchildren enjoy and that is easily determined by how attentive they are to what is being read.

Loved reading Roald Dahl books. They always seemed to make them laugh at some of the funny things that happened in the stories. Also Dr Seuss books were great when they were very young. Green Eggs and Ham was my sons favourite one and he memorized it and now reads it to his 3 year old son. He also has quite a few of these books that his son enjoys.

My grand son's current favourite is the Hungry Caterpillar, he loves putting his little finger through the holes and trying to count.

The Magic Tomato!
This is a different story everytime - not a written version, but one my husband invented for bedtime. The grandchildren loved them - all different adventures where a 'magic tomato' who transforms himself into anything you want to make an exciting, and often personal story.

We love reading The Gobble Gobble Moooo Tractor Book by Jez Alborough; the toddler grandchildren are able to identify the farm animals and join with me in making the animal noises. Great fun for all!

Rosie and Jim story books are my grandchildren favourite

Bumboseat1 Sun 07-Jun-20 17:09:38

My granddaughter love Rosie and Jim stories . So many adventures these two get up too. Grandchildren favourite

dubaigran Sun 07-Jun-20 17:17:00

All of the Spot stories - my grandchildren always enjoy opening the flaps. I have a 1983 copy of Where's Spot that I'd read to my children and they like seeing it next to the newer version - they can't believe that their dads used to read the same book.

Grumblina Sun 07-Jun-20 17:21:30

It has to be anything from the Famous Five - he loves to hear their adventures and always wants one more chapter!

JLD18 Sun 07-Jun-20 17:23:15

The Alfie and Annie Rose story book - I've read this to my children and now to my grandson Alfie!

Sawsage2 Sun 07-Jun-20 18:29:38

My grandchildren love the old Rupert Bear books with three levels of reading. The stories are so well written they take children to magical faraway places.

Spot the dog and Mog stories by Judith Kerr. Absolutely terrific stories to share?
