My little grandchildren love The Tiger Who Came to Tea and they can't wait for me to read it to them again!

The Gruffalo is a favourite with my two-year-old grandson, as as the Mog books. He even has a Mog soft toy to cuddle up with.

Oh, so many favourites over the years, but they’ve all at some stage liked the Alfie books by Shirley Hughes. The frontrunner has been Alfie Gets in First, where Alfie locks himself in the house. Shirley Hughes’ illustrations are adorable.

The snail and the whale, (or is it the whale and the snail?). My DGD currently has a thing about crabs and we love looking for all the things in the lovely illustrations.

I love reading the three little pigs because they pretended to huff and puff and blow the houses down !

The Gruffalo - great writing and great message.

We love The Tiger Who Came To Tea because a good story should be just a little bit scary (but not too scary)

My grandson is 19 months old and he absolutely adores books by Julia Donaldson. We think it is the gentle rhymes and the pictures he loves. One of his first words was 'Lufflo' (Gruffalo). One of my daughters' favourite books that I read over and over to them was Charlotte's Web. Their love of the characters never palled.

The lion the witch and the wardrobe - and I love doing the Aslan voice!

My two enjoyed the Greek Legends and the Bible stories. Good tales and timeless. Who can forget Medusa or the flight from Egypt.

My 3 year old granddaughter loves all books but I like reading the ones that make her laugh. Currently this is The Gruffalo.

Fox in Sox by Dr Suezz. I love the tongue twisting nonsense of it with GC laughing along.

Mopsx4 Tue 12-May-20 09:06:52

Green eggs and ham by Dr suezz has long been a favourite and the favourite bedtime story is Goldilocks and the three bears which we do actions and voices to - I can stop reading and the 4 yr old just carries on word perfect!

The Family from One End Street by Eve Garnett. It was read to me as a child and I really loved it, so I'm enjoying sharing it with my grandchildren.

I love reading Guess How Much I love You :-)

I have just read The Gingerbread Man to my grandson and when we got to the part where the fox is tossing the gingerbread man onto different parts of his body my grandson looked worringly at me and said " He doesnt eat him does he". I quickly had to retell the ending with the fox helping him to the other side to escape the people chasing him.

Room on the Broom. My grandson isn’t as keen as I am on the story but very kindly indulges me!!!!

we are a bit steam train obsessed in our family, granddad builds his own model steam trains for our garden railway, not from kits, but from scratch! we are members of a local model engineers society which have steam train ride open days every month, so he is a driver of the trains and his dad was a stoker on the life size steam trains - so in my roundabout way , our fav books are of course Thomas the Tank, to continue the family obsession with steam trains through the generations!

The Sick Cow. It was one of our DSs favourites. 3 little pigs came pretty close too.
