Everything in our house gets recycling, the recyclers must hate our house each week.
If I receive parcels I reuse the packaging where's possible even for presents for family.
Only having lights on if necessary and we are in the room. All appliances switched off at wall if not in use.
When cleaning teeth we never leave the tap running. Once I've finished with the washing up bowl I use the water to water the garden if it is OK and not too dirty.

I don't have a car now, have been a vegetarian for nearly 40 years, walk and cycle most places, recycle, use all energy saving bulbs, turn things off when they are not being used, have insulating curtains including on external doors, bath and shower only when necessary, wash clothes etc. only when necessary and dry outdoors, wash hair fortnightly, shop locally and reuse bags, grow my own herbs and salads, forage for food eg blackberries, batch cook from scratch, feed birds in the garden, try not to use pesticides, and so on ad nauseam. Like others a drop in the ocean I feel, but still, it's my drop and I'd rather add it than not.

We use green options including power, recycle everything possible, grow our own vegetables and fruit where possible, eat primarily vegetarian and have cut back on air travel.

LJB70 Thu 10-Sept-20 13:30:16

Recycle what I can, resusable water cups, reuse bags and anything that can be reused

sammylea80 Thu 10-Sept-20 13:02:47

I recycle what I can and try to buy lose produce rather than packaged.

jane1956 Thu 10-Sept-20 12:57:44

we clean all plastic before putting it in red bin. try to buy without plastic but quite difficult. We walk everyday to supermarket, do not use car.

mrsgreenfingers56 Thu 10-Sept-20 12:14:02

Won't accept plastic bags, cycle as much as possible, recycle everything, have a compost bin, mend and repair clothes and items, stopped using clingfilm and made some beeswax wrappers during lockdown, grow all my own veggies and have cavity wall insulation, a modern boiler, excellent loft insulation and have a blanket if feeling a bit chilly instead of put the heating on, use the line outside for drying clothes.

elizab Thu 10-Sept-20 12:06:01

reduced my plastic use and avoidng fast fashion! cutting down on meat !

purpleskull Thu 10-Sept-20 11:52:55

We try not to buy new things when we can, buy second hand and donate to charity instead of throwing things away.

vishalgshah Thu 10-Sept-20 11:52:01

Walking and recycling more and also using shower head water regulators.

msemegs Thu 10-Sept-20 11:51:55

I'm leaving the car on the drive and walking a lot more where possible.

rachelmccraith Thu 10-Sept-20 11:18:06

Walking wherever possible so I'm not using the car unnecessarily

cinders59 Thu 10-Sept-20 11:17:07

simmaggs Thu 10-Sept-20 11:16:17

cutting down on flying and driving

nikhop90 Thu 10-Sept-20 10:57:29

We have reduced our single use plastic consumption! We also are eating more plant based meals.

zabaglione Thu 10-Sept-20 10:38:56

I take the bus into town instead of driving in.

HHBBNN54 Thu 10-Sept-20 10:21:19

I recycle as much as possible, donate things for recycling to charity instead of binning them. Use my own bags when shopping.

cathyd Thu 10-Sept-20 10:01:20

I recycle as much as possible, have made the decision to holiday in the UK in future, switch off lights when leaving a room

Whatarethechances Thu 10-Sept-20 09:57:41

We are recycling all that we can, using a compost bin for vegetable waste and the council’s food waste bin for other food waste, trying to make sure we don’t waste any food & have recently switched to milk bottle deliveries rather than plastic milk bottles. Small steps but we keep trying to improve.

ceejayen Thu 10-Sept-20 09:43:03

I am passionate about recycling and don't waste anything

crabstoes10 Thu 10-Sept-20 09:42:02

we do as much as possible to recycle stuff given our rural location

cangran Thu 10-Sept-20 09:40:51

I have been vegetarian for nearly 40 years and am eating more vegan meals, always cook at home and use fruit and vegetables in season locally. We waste very little and recycle as much as possible, and don't have a car. I am very supportive of the bike lanes and now quiet neighbourhoods being slowly introduced in our London neighbourhood and counter the arguments from those who oppose, and think they have some 'right' to drive as much as they want despite the pollution caused. My garden is full of trees and wild areas.

cinderellao1976 Thu 10-Sept-20 09:34:16

i wish i could swap our car for an electric one, i looked into it, but they are an expensive purchase. i do recycle everything, i havent flown in more 3 years, all my bulbs are energy efficient, i will choose local food produce if available .

Scungybear Thu 10-Sept-20 09:16:27

I try to recycle as much as possible, both by sorting all my rubbish, donating to charity and buying clothes, shoes, crockery etc for myself from the charity shops.

Sheils999 Thu 10-Sept-20 09:13:34

Recycle as much as I can. Only buy what I need & replace only if broken. Don't have a car so use public transport. Hate having to buy a bag in a shop now. The bag for life initiative has been a real success so proves behaviour can change.
