Helping my son with his two allotments, to supply us with fruit, vegetables, salads and eggs. It's a labour of love. The list for ownership of an allotment is growing exponentially and seed companies are tripling sales on seeds and plants. I just wish people would turn their lawns into vegetable patches. The positives? Stress relief, fresh produce and a hobby to share and learn from.

Oh - and no need to buy or use a lawnmower. That's exhilerating in its own right!

We recycle/reuse everything we can, have changed to a energy provider where all our energy is either wind generated or offset, turn off all lights/chargers when not in use, etc.

natab123 Tue 06-Oct-20 21:59:47

Using stainless steel water bottles and straws. Recycling clothes to friends or charity.

natalielara Tue 06-Oct-20 22:05:31

We are increasing our recycling and re-using as much cardboard etc as possible

Really trying to avoid waste by planning more and having a 'use it up' meal once a week.

jaizko Tue 06-Oct-20 22:29:43

Recycling and trying to reduce food waste.

Use green energy firm, generate our own electricity with PV panels and make the best use of it, wash clothes less, recycle everything, avoid plastic, use brown paper and cotton string to wrap presents, which may have come from a charity shop, or use new tea towels collected from charity shops.

No longer eat meat.

I am using up all my food in the cupboards since pandemic not shopping as often but also less waste and I’m enjoying planning what to make

ptak5566 Wed 07-Oct-20 07:49:05

I have cut down on single use plastic, I don't use cling film anymore. I have started to grow some of my own vegetables and herbs. I don't buy clothes as often any more as there is so much waste in the fashion industry, I often get the odd bit at Charity shops.

joannec1234 Wed 07-Oct-20 07:59:56

I ensure the whole family is involved in recycling, including my teenagers who would try and stuff everything in the general waste if I didn't keep an eye on them!

Bellroyd Wed 07-Oct-20 08:16:09

Using the car less and less. Shunning plastic whenever and wherever I find it. Recycling and repurposing rather than dumping. Spreading the word and seeking to influence others

zeenie Wed 07-Oct-20 08:27:59

im trying to reduce the amount of plastic i use

Lesevans6 Wed 07-Oct-20 08:31:32

1. Recycling as much as I can.

I shop local and mainly buy local produce in season.
Keep the thermostat the same temp saves on fuel and have check and insulated our home the best we can.
Lockdown has made us re evaluate what we need rather than want. So have gone down to one car also.
It all feels quite strange having made these adjustments, but also seems right.
Our motto is do we need rather than want

MaryEllenG Wed 07-Oct-20 08:51:23

I recycle as much as I can. Buy 5 litre bottles of washing up liquid, washing liquid and fabric conditioner. Buy hair shampoo and hair conditioner bars. Buy eco friendly cleaning products when I can.

cjh123 Wed 07-Oct-20 08:56:13

I eat mostly plant base food now, recycle as much as I can, feed the local badgers and foxes with any leftovers and only shop for clothes in charity shops no new items except underwear.

huntfish Wed 07-Oct-20 09:04:47

I am walking everywhere within 2 miles, recycling more with a compost heap and generally trying to use less energy.

Sheils999 Wed 07-Oct-20 09:28:13

I recycle as much as I can. My electric is with a supplier with 100% renewable energy. I hate buying a plastic bag in the shops so take my own (what a success that scheme has been)

bevwillis Wed 07-Oct-20 09:34:24

Leading a much simpler life since the big lockdown and even though it has been relaxed a little i haven't gone back to my old ways. Using car only when absolutely necessary, less convenience foods...therefore less packaging, etc, wash at low temperatures and dry naturally outside. Wear extra clothing rather than putting heating whenever possible. Recycling everything has always been a priority for me anyway.

Fflaurie Wed 07-Oct-20 09:47:35

Any mail order delivery bags are used (time and time again) as bin liners, our central heating has been turned down two degrees, I use the diary on my phone to avoid paper calendar / diary and use the shopping list on my phone to avoid using paper. I even cut the ribbons from my clothes, (the sort that you hook over the hangers to stop stuff falling off - because it doesnt fall off) to use as little bows on presents.

Jen8 Wed 07-Oct-20 09:55:08

I have cut back on buying more "stuff". I aim to reduce, reuse and recycle. I have a compost bin.
