I don't have a car now, have been a vegetarian for nearly 40 years, walk and cycle most places, recycle, use all energy saving bulbs, turn things off when they are not being used, have insulating curtains including on external doors, bath and shower only when necessary, wash clothes etc. only when necessary and dry outdoors, wash hair fortnightly, shop locally and reuse bags, grow my own herbs and salads, forage for food eg blackberries, batch cook from scratch, feed birds in the garden, try not to use pesticides, and so on ad nauseam. Like others a drop in the ocean I feel, but still, it's my drop and I'd rather add it than not.

Everything in our house gets recycling, the recyclers must hate our house each week.
If I receive parcels I reuse the packaging where's possible even for presents for family.
Only having lights on if necessary and we are in the room. All appliances switched off at wall if not in use.
When cleaning teeth we never leave the tap running. Once I've finished with the washing up bowl I use the water to water the garden if it is OK and not too dirty.

I'm not breathing as much as I used to.

Suzic Thu 10-Sept-20 14:32:49

I’m disabled and have to drink with straws so I’m now using metal and dishwasher safe straws instead of single use!

hellywellyt Thu 10-Sept-20 15:14:11

we reduce, reuse and recycle what we can, walk if within distance and switch all plugs off

aligiraffe Thu 10-Sept-20 15:24:10

I recycle like crazy, have switched to reusable silicon straws , have LED bulbs throughout my home & use silicon covers for tubs instead of clingfilm.

Ha ha! I am using very old pans! I thought this was an appropriate comment!
I have a number of baking trays, pans and utensils from the 1950s that are still in use.

Hameringham Thu 10-Sept-20 16:05:37

Recycle as much as possible . Very strict on which waste goes where fir the bin collection. Grow our own veg. and share with the neighbours. Also use a water butt and maintain a compost bin.

I gave up my car, I reduce, re-use and recycle, I buy the majority of my clothes from charity shops, grow most of my own food and I have encouraged my children to do almost all of the above.

Oh yes - and I married a man whose life-motto is, 'use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without'! grin

kellyroxanne Thu 10-Sept-20 16:55:07

We recycle everything that we are allowed to. I don’t eat meat. I switch plugs off when not in use. I reuse bags. Etc ❤️ Thanks

clairewoods137 Thu 10-Sept-20 18:08:23

Recycling plastics, paper, bottles, glass etc. Use re-usable shopping bags. Donate clothes to Charity shops and buy from there too. Trying to use car less and walk more since lockdown.

TP21 Thu 10-Sept-20 19:01:10

reuse or recycle everything we can

Missfoodlove Thu 10-Sept-20 19:12:44

I made a new year resolution to ban single use plastic from our home!
It’s been quite a revelation!
I use beeswax wraps, reusable freezer bags, a local shop fills up my fabric conditioner, washing liquid etc.
Supermarkets will put deli products in to your own containers.
I’m not all the way there but getting close.
Our loo roll is now delivered on a subscription, it’s eco friendly and 50% of profit goes to charity. ?.
I think we’re all doing our bit!!!!

I have solar panels, I barely heat my house and go to bed early in the winter with a heated blanket. I don't fly.

yoeydavis Thu 10-Sept-20 19:48:05

I'm recycling glass, paper , plastic and leftover foods. I'm donating old clothes or furniture to charities and I'm not buying cleaning products or foods with lots of plastic packaging.
