I love that you never know what is going to happen next with a gripping page turner, my favourite is Postmortem by Patricia Cornwell, this is the read that really inspired my love of crime thrillers

I have to say that the nearest I’ve got to reading thrillers is Shawshanks Redemption ..... but I want to get into the thriller genre because I am now feeling bored by family sagas that I usually choose. I’m sure this will exclude me from winning this particular competition but it would be nice to get a runner up copy of The Silent Wife to set me back on the road of reading page turning books.

A few years ago I discovered Lee Childs and read all the Reacher novels (in order). I've since found many other great writers of crime/thrillers and panic about finding another author when coming to the last book! At the moment I am loving L J Ross and her DCI Ryan series. These books particularly appeal to me as they are set in my home county of Northumberland!

For me it would have to be the John Connolly Charlie Parker series of books. He writes beautifully and has created a great blend of supernatural mystery. Out of all of his books "Dark Hollow" would be my favourite.
Though I would definetely recommend starting from the beginning!

My crime authors of choice are Peter James & Linwood Barclay whose books are always gripping. I'd love to add Karin Slaughter to my list!

My favourite crime/thriller book are those written by Ruth Rendell, such as A Judgement in Stone. I’m interested in the social history and the the psychological background of criminals and their victims.

My favourite crime book is anything by Edgar Wallace who was a master of writing very good crime thrillers. He wrote The Forger, The Door With Seven Locks, to name but a few and the twists and turns in them are amazing! Its a good way to unwind and ease your mind, getting lost in the escapism of a good thriller!

My favourite books are the Chief Inspector Armand Gamache books by Louise Penny.
I love reading thrillers as I love to try and solve "who done it".

I just recently read Find Them Dead by Peter James which was a good read. There are so many it is hard to choose!

Daisy in Chains - by Sharon Bolton - although I worked out who it was early on - I love twists and turns, I prefer to be completely suprised by the ending, even though I love trying to work out who dunnit

Guilty Wives by James Patterson. Love reading them for all the suspense and twists and turns and trying to work the plot out

There are so many I have enjoyed reading over the past decade, so it is difficult to pick a specific one from a long list. The most recent one I have enjoyed reading was The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman. The thing I most like about reading thrillers is the excitement and suspense, not knowing what is likely to happen next.

I love piecing together the clues in crime novels and trying to work out who the guilty party is. I think my favourite is Bluebird, Bluebird by Attica Locke

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd was my first of this genre and I was hooked - the excitement of the denouement and the thrill of unravelling the plot yourself

I am in to crime thrillers and usually read Karen rose and Lynda de plant but looking forward to read Karen slaughter

I cannot sleep without reading a few chapters from a thriller. It keeps on edge and suspense. I can't wait to see the characters interact with motives beyond your original thought. I love a great twist.
The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith was brilliant. I loved the film version, too. To me, it is a very sad, poignant book about a character who is hopelessly lost as what he desire always alludes to him.

I tend to alternate between nice cosy family sagas, optimistic stories of setting up cake shops and a really gritty thriller that has me page turning into the small hours. I've recently discovered Karin Slaughter and she's already on my "Must Read" list

Girl on a train - just so unexpected!

The Girl On the Train. I love a good twisty thriller that shocks me with every unexpected turn of the plot

There is such a varied range! Sometimes I want the cosiness of MC Beaton or Caroline Graham, at others I prefer Mark Billingham or Val McDermid’s tension.
My favourites have to include Ellis Peter’s Brother Cadfael series. However my absolute favourite book is Gentleman and Players by Joanne Harris, one of the few that I re-read for her style, characterisation, and sheer cleverness!

I really loved reading Kathy Reichs books, then seeing how different they were on tv. The I stopped reading for quite some time as I was otherwise preoccupied but during lockdown I read 'Bird Box' by Josh Malerman. I'd tried watching it but couldn't get into it but the book was really good! Since then I've gotten back into books and have read a couple more of Malerman's books and am currently reading 'Malorie', the sequel to 'Bird Box'. I also read a 'Railway Mystery' which was very good! So I guess I'm back into reading again, and my imagination of the characters and places is coming back tenfold and I cannot complain!

I am a great Stephen King fan. Once I have one of his books in my hand it never gets put down.
