Another shallow prattler here ??‍♀️

I have my roots done every 3 weeks as my hair is dark but my roots are white - and never mind toilet roll, it’ll be Nice & Easy (or equivalent) which I will be stockpiling!!

Another SP here. I am going to Boots later to stock up on mascara and foundation. I have a hair appointment later this week which should keep me going for 5/ 6 weeks but I am going to look at home hair dye kits just in case. I can't stand looking at grey roots even if no one else sees them. I am also stocking up on face cream and lipstick for my 90 year old mother, she is a fellow sp and always smartly turned out.

A word of caution: I have had my eyebrows 'laminated' and it's a disaster!!

I didn't actually mean to have that particular procedure, but my daughter gave a me a beauty voucher, which I planned to use to have my 'usual' - an eyebrow wax - at the beauty clinic, and when I was booking I commented on a poster advertising eyebrow lamination. I turned up for my appointment and the therapist had somehow booked me for the lamination instead of the wax!

Ho hum - I decided that as I wasn't paying I'd stick with it and see what happened. Big mistake! I came out looking as if two fat, black, hairy caterpillars were walking across my forehead, and since then, to add insult to injury, one of my eyebrows has lost most of the hair to breakage and the other is looking decidedly bedraggled, if rather less threadbare.

So ends my cautionary tale ladies - beware the lamination!

Oh no grannyactivist! I was thinking of having my brows laminated but now I’ll have a rethink!!

Please how do they "laminate" eyebrows? I've only ever laminated things on paper like work-cards when I was teaching and pictures when I'm guiding or talking. I now have a mental picture of a gran being fed into a laminator with someone exclaiming "Hang on it's not heated up properly yet!"

I've never heard of eyebrow laminating either. Did they put your head through a hot roller?

Hello fellow SPs. I nipped in to Tavistock this morning and bought wadding so I can sit and hand quilt the patchwork bed cover that I have made. That should take me about four months. I notice DH brought chocolate back when he did the shopping. He has planned meals for the week and went early and got everything so we won't need to go out apart from a walk.

Glad this thread has gone down well.

I have been at the dentist since launching it, having composites put on my front teeth. I wasn't actually sure what they were - every time I tried to google them the phone rang, but it seems it is putting some coating on my front teeth to hid those brown stripes where all the enamel has worn off.

I must say it really is an improvement. If the virus gets me, I am going to be beautiful corpse with not only hair and eyebrows done, but teeth as well.

Any moment now I am off to Tai Chi, a miscellaneous selection of oldies in the village hall. I must see if the instructor can recommend a site or DVD so that I can continue to do it after we are immured. Pilates has already been abandoned, a mixed bunch of all ages in an inside studio on a high tech business park, didn't seem a good idea.

Anyway, back later.

I’m off to the dentist to have an implant tooth sorted. It fell out on Saturday and I don’t want to spend months with a horrid gap in my teeth. Shallow? I don’t care!

I've got the dentist on Wednesday - just a checkup with clean and polish, I hope... As for beauty of any sort, I think I'm beyond hope, and you can't miss what you've never had!

Where I did go wrong is in not buying chocolate when I was out this morning. Shallow prattling definitely needs chocolate, as does so much else in life.

I think you have been unlucky with your on-line shopping because all the good makes are now both in the shops and on-line. Eg Next, M&S, Sahara, Me+Em. Joules, Cotton Traders to name a few. The only shoddy garment I have ever had was from Asos. Mind you, I have turned on-line shopping for clothes into an art form as I have always enjoyed fashion.

I realised this morning, that I had missed my hair cut appointment, last Thursday. I have popped a card through the salon door, apologising, and hoping I can be fitted in soon-ish.

I had wondered why my hair was a bit more untidy than usual.

That's interesting M0nica - are they less invasive than veneers?

I'm looking scruffy today as I've been doing several, loads of washing (60C for towels etc) and cleaning. At least it's a beautiful day so the washing is hanging on the line.
However, we are supposed to be out for lunch tomorrow so I must do my hair and smarten up. Should we all sit at separate tables?

I have to tell you the laminating procedure itself was an absolute faff. The therapist 'relaxes' the eyebrows, then perms them (yes, that's right) and covers them with cling film, then (mine are naturally quite pale) she colours them.
I've tried to post photo's, but for some reason the message then doesn't get sent. I'll keep trying.

DD has dyed mine a couple of times, there isn't enough there to wax!

I've just looked up laminating - it's the new alternative to 'microblading'

A course I've been on finished early due to poor attendance and I'm now in JL browsing.

I can't see much evidence of panicking - cafes are emptyish though.

I've stocked up on nail varnish and a massive pot of moisturiser just in case.

Business as usual otherwise - I'm one of the fittest buggers at my work so going in while others self-isolate. Lots of "underlying health conditions" becoming suddenly evident...

i was expecting a caterpillar colony in the making....
black, furry, large, and twitching bit, while beginning to march down the nose, looking for a lettuce.
ps my knowledge of natural history may be a bit wonky, i am not scientific. not anything much really. ho hum.
