Unfortunately people will die in this - it’s an awful virus. However it’s important to remember that the vast majority 80-odd% will recover. Focus on keeping yourself healthy and protected - you’re absolutely doing the right thing

Not someone I know personally, but yes. I do not want to give details. Thats when it hit home for me I think, as to how serious it was.

Yes, my mother’s cousin died last week. She hadn’t even know he was ill. Four days from start to finish. Stay safe, everyone.

No,but I do know several people who have had it and recovered well.

So easy to forget that for most people it will be a mild illness.

Juno, how truly sad for you, and very frightening. But providing you are obeying all the rules, you should be all right.

Sometimes it is not how serious an underlying medical condition is and how disabled you are by it, but what it is. We had someone posting last week that they couldn't understand why they had had a 'shielding' social seclusion letter, when she could still do everything she had ever done, and was really fit, but then she mentioned what she had been diagnosed with and it was one of the conditions that place you most at risk if you get Covid-19.

Yes a relative of someone I know. Don’t want to give too many details. . Aged 55. Has been on life support for 12 days. One Of today’s statistic sadly.

A friend in Scotland leaving a husband without a wife and another leaving two children without a mum and a husband without a wife. Please STAY IN!!

Yes a much loved lady aged 80 .

Thank you for your responses. In truth we weren't close, she was my cousin's step sister. But we saw each other, albeit infrequently, at family gatherings over many years. We have shared meals, drinks, exchanged Christmas cards and news of our families and have people in common. Her DD and mine both had babies within three weeks of each other last year; first grandchild for both of us. When we knew that we were in lockdown and would not see our AC and DGD for several months I said to my DH "M will be missing seeing the changes in her GS too".

It was still someone you knew and your lives were woven into each other’s. It must have been a huge shock for you.

Yes, a former colleague of my husband. Aged 81 but was doing well and enjoying life when my husband had lunch with him a few months ago.
And tragically a young woman, relative of a friend, who had health issues but had her life in front of her until the virus cut it short. Very sad.

Yes, someone I know someone has died with the virus, it was my God Mother’s husband. I’ve known him all my life and during my early years we socialised regularly as a family with his family. He was a very old man, 95 or 96 I believe, but although he had had a long life, it’s a terrible way to go. We were told he was very ill at the end.

Yes a friend of my OH. There are also 2 of our friends in hospital with it. My ex MIL died last week in hospital but it has now been confirmed it wasnt covid 19.
It certainly hits home when people we know succumb doesnt it. My OHs friend was younger than us and as far as we know extremely fit.

The husband (aged about 70) of a lovely lady I worked with contracted the virus and died on Saturday. She is now in isolation, I cannot begin to imagine how she will cope... alone at this time.

On a cheerier note I know a young family who had it and have, I believe, recovered well.

Juno I'm sorry for your loss, it certainly gives a grim realisation of the devastation this virus is causing, when it affects people who are known to us.

I don't know anyone who has died or anyone who has got, or had, Covid-19. It can affect any of us, although, for most people, it won't be severe.
