My DH is on the shielded list. Just wondering how many others there are on GN and how you are coping with staying in all the time.

Doodle Thu 07-May-20 21:13:59

Hi cherry we have a delivery booked for tomorrow night at 9pm. Awful time but the only one we could get. I won’t let DH out of the front door so I will have to go down and collect it all. Thank goodness we have a lift.?. I bring it all in and then wash everything with disinfectant and dry it and DH is allowed to help put it away. I find the whole process exhausting but can’t complain. At least we get food.
DH has spent the day sorting photos and after a bit of housework I have been sewing. This evening we sat on our balcony with a glass of wine and than had a light salad. Not a bad day.
I am sorry your WP has trouble sleeping due to pain. Mine does too but his is IBS. Yours sleeps in a recliner, mine wears the carpet out ?. I hope both of you get some sleep tonight. I’ll be back later with the hot chocolate ?

Mamissimo Thu 07-May-20 21:18:22

Cherry - I do hope the bruising isn’t too bad and you haven’t hurt yourself too much. We’re often nonplussed by random bruising on me But I never know how I did it.

Grammaretto I’m pleased to report that I am still well! I posted a picture of the curated carrier bag holder on FB and it has received a lot of attention....most of it gently enquiring about my wellbeing! Tomorrow I may tackle the garlic crock which has a lot of white papery stuff and some random shoots of something in the bottom. It will give me purpose!

Doodle will be around soon with the drinks trolley.....I think an espresso martini will see me off tonight ?

lemongrove Thu 07-May-20 21:46:11

We seem to get shopping deliveries at odd times of day too Doodle but as long as they arrive, no problem.Still can’t get flour though, and I would really enjoy doing some baking.
Running dangerously low on sherry! ?

Running out of things to do around the house and garden, it’s all never looked as good.Am reading lots, doing crosswords
And chatting endlessly on the phone to friends.

We are sleeping much better now that we have bought new pillows....Emma pillows, very strange looking, but they do work well, we sleep more deeply and have no more neck pains.

CherryCezzy Thu 07-May-20 22:14:48

Sounds like a pleasant enough day Doodle, nice evening too ?

That sounds rather worrying Mamissimo. I wouldn't just ignore bruising if you dont know how you got it and if it's quite a regular occurrence. Your account of the papery bits from the garlic made me smile. I have a little container for garlic that always ends up full of papery bits, like white confetti. I don't have anything so grand as garlic crock though ?

I've never heard of "Emma pillows" lemongrove, it sound like you've found the right ones for you. What's strange about how they look?

Wait patiently for my hot chocolate now gov'nr but I may not need it as I'm already starting to feel sleepy tonight ?

Doodle Thu 07-May-20 22:38:57

Dashing round with the hot chocolate and espresso martini before you all nod off. lemon I too have never heard of Emma pillows. Off to look them up. Sleep well all

Dreamkeeper Thu 07-May-20 23:26:39

Late for roll call......again.
Will I never learn the regulations?
Been fighting the wobbles as I think this talk of the Lockdown being lifted, all be it in parts has unsettled me.I am better simply knuckling down knowing we are in here for the full haul.
Have given myself a jolly good talking too,and slinking in hopefully to at least grab some of that delicious hot chocolate with expresso martini!!!!
You certainly know how to spoil us Doodle
Don`t tell me that Mammissimo grabbed the last one!

Whilst hearing how you described your own mum really brought me to tears, quite obviously her warmth and caring heart rubbed off on you Doodle as I well remember a good while back being always so very touched by your way with words, reaching out so meaningfully to all of us with our own issues. They always came from the depth of your heart.
Whilst hearing of all the work you put in when having a delivery of grub shows real dedication to duty!

Lovely hearing of your story too Cherry I think it must be invaluable being brought up by 2 parents and in the context of a family.Sadly I never knew either and lost out on Grandparents too.
When one starts family talk it is amazing the odd ........and sometimes painful stories we come across.I think the influences in those earlier years can make or break one`s whole life.

It was quite awesome seeing pictures of the glorious beaches and winding streets of Tenby completely bare of human feet this sunny afternoon,so near to this Bank holiday.
Then the next clip showed Police having quite a picnic on a distant crossroads leading into the resort .........where there were convoys of cars heading towards the coast, some from London,Bristol and the like.Their excuses would make you smile........were they not serious breaches that could cause us lives .One said they were visiting nearby Saundersfoot to collect seaweed for a party back home!!! Another that he was collecting a Bouncy Castle if you please.
Anyway they were all halted and had to return home.

We both take it in turns to "toss and turn* in bed and whilst it was my turn last night it is my dear one`s tonight.
He gets unbearingly hot following his chemo so when the weather is also warm,he really is on fire.
Time I joined him so I bid you all a fond farewell,be good and stay safe!

BradfordLass73 Fri 08-May-20 03:22:09

Jankers for you Dreamkeeper if you're late again but we'll overlook it this time grin

Lovely talk, by phone, with my son today, so feeling quite perky. He rang to say all the tests were good. Baby shows no genetic issues - and it's a girl!

And the photo you see of Old Fatface here is to make everyone who despairs of their own hair, feel a LOT better.

Surely, no one can possibly have such spider web permanently tatty hair like mine?

It's now caught up in a rubber band but still wispy and still green of course.

Hot chocolate all round once I get some milk - which should be arriving this afternoon.

Yay! It's a girl, she's a girl grin Yay!

Grammaretto Fri 08-May-20 08:04:26

Yay! It's a girl, she's a girl grin Yay!
what nicer news to wake up to. Thanks Bradfordlass and good luck to your DS & DDiL.

Please no more bad hair day photos. I couldn't cope. Nicola Sturgeon cut her own but I shan't be doing that either.

I will have to dress up a bit on Tuesday morning when a funeral cortege will pass by . A very dear lady in our town passed away last week and this is what happens now, The funeral director issues a time and route for people to be out to wave goodbye. There will be a memorial something later.

DD's doggy is back home from her op. She looked awful at first but perked up when she smelled food.

I shall pop back in later to see how you all are .

Doodle Fri 08-May-20 12:42:52

Hope you and DH both slept last night panache. Your words to me were very kind. You always have kind words for others too. ?. I did wonder if you and MrP were out on the town last night as you were late in ? Don’t worry. The kitchen has an endless supply of hot chocolate but we certainly need your milk Baradfordlass.
A girl! How lovely. How excited you must be bradfordlass the new baby may well have a granny with some wispy hair but she’ll also have one with a lovely big smile too ?
Good news all the test results went well. Your son and DIL must be over the moon.
grammaretto glad the doggy is home again. Hope she gets better soon. A bit of food and a loving cuddle works wonders I think.
Got a major food delivery due late tonight. The only one we’ve been able to source from Waitrose so I ordered everything I could think of. It will take me all night to wash and unpack.
Hope you all have a peaceful day ?

Rufus2 Fri 08-May-20 13:27:13

And the photo you see of Old Fatface here
Bradford Lovely pic! smile
Somehow it reminds me of Oklahoma and "Surrey with the Fringe on Top", but I thought you emanated from Yorkshire! ? hmm
Good Health
OoRoo

CherryCezzy Fri 08-May-20 13:41:56

BradfordLass, your excitement at the news that your DiL is expecting a girl made me smile ?. Great news that the test results that came back were good.
You look a lot like my old boss in London BradfordLass. She was the best boss I ever had and a lovely lady to boot. Her warmth and cheer shone from her face, just like it does yours. Btw, there's a Fatface shop in our village, sells clothes for all ages - so there's no need for you to describe yourself as Old Fatface ?

The fact that your DD's dog perked up when she smelled her food is a positive sign Grammaretto. I'm sure with love, comfort and food she'll recover well.

Like Doodle said Dreamkeeper I hope both of you did have a good night's sleep last night and are more refreshed today.
My father died when I was 6 years old Dreamkeeper but yes I was lucky to have him. Both his parents died before I was born but I did have my grandfather on my mother's side until I was 9, although he wasn't really interested. I missed my father greatly for a long time but the love my mother gave me was more than anyone could wish for.

I had another dratted seizure in the night, fell out of bed again and had to have rescue medication again. I admit I am feeling very tired and bruised ?. I'm still here though and the sun is still shining, it's VE day and a bank holiday so I won't dwell! There's still much to be happy about ?

Doodle Fri 08-May-20 19:45:49

cherry that’s awful. Could you not put something on the floor to fall on so you don’t get so hurt. Is your rescue medication something special. Does it help you recover quickly? You are such a lovely person to be so bright and positive when you have so much to cope with. I hope tonight there are no bumps and bruises. Take care

Mamissimo Fri 08-May-20 22:52:41

cherry these crash landings must take it out of you! I hope you get the odd power snooze to help get you through the day.

After hearing nothing from NHS since I got my letter weeks ago I have suddenly started getting text messages with advice and instructions. Apparently they’re going to ring me too to make sure I don’t need anything. I’ve been at home with DH for seven weeks with not as much as a peep from them. I hope the people who are alone and really need their support have faired better!

Our lane doesn’t lend itself to street parties because we are random houses and farms with fields in between- if we’d had a tea party in our front garden we still wouldn’t have seen a soul so we toasted our parents, uncles and aunts, with a large gin....or 2.

I won’t need the espresso martini tonight Doodle but can I please have a Scooby snack in case I wake up hungry in the night? Trifle would be nice ?

Grammaretto Fri 08-May-20 23:05:08

Sorry to hear you have seizures at night cherry. Could you try sleeping on a mattress on the floor?

We couldn't see people in the street. Our house is tucked behind. We had a G&T in the garden and toasted all the brave people and a fish supper was delivered to the door.
Night night all..

BradfordLass73 Fri 08-May-20 23:06:54

Oh, cheery cherry I'm so sorry you're bruised yet again from a fall.
Can you get one of those padded bed guards which are right-angled and slide beneath the mattress to prevent such things? They have them in hospitals, maybe you can ask to borrow one?

I'm so glad the lovely old dog is doing well and perking up for food. It must be so distressing for all concerned.

Aye, Rufus I'm definitely a Yorkshire tyke and some people think we're thick sad. I just wish my hair was smile.
All well on your side of The Pond?

Keep smiling everyone.....
flowers

Doodle Fri 08-May-20 23:14:53

mamissimo everything is available in the kitchen. Just mention it and it’s yours. Espresso martini and trifle all ready for you ?
Oh grammaretto a fish supper. That sounds nice. Haven’t had a fish supper for ages. Our fish shop closed for refurbishment and only opened again 2 days before lockdown.
bradfordlass I bet you’ve been thinking about the baby all day today. Now you know it’s a girl. Do you have other grandchildren?
Hot chocolate in the kitchen keeping warm for any late arrivals. Sleep well all

CherryCezzy Fri 08-May-20 23:36:54

Shucks Doodle you've got me blushing ?. I just think that over the years I have reached the conclusion that since I can't change the way things are why put myself through any more by being downcast about it.
What I call my rescue medication "does what it says on the tin" as they say - it is administered to me by my WP to bring me out of a prolonged seizure (status epileptic us) that I might not survive. It is a special medication. It's also a bit of an odd one as it is one of the drugs (in a cocktail of three) used in lethal injections to execute people sentenced to death, in the US and other places hmm, so it has life saving and life denying ( when used in a cocktail) properties. Weird or what?
I used to have seizures quite frequently in my sleep and had a mattress on the floor. I then went a considerable time without having them so removed the mattress. It's only in the last couple of months that nocturnal seizures have come back. I guess the mattress is going to have to make a return. It's odd when it's there as if (happens virtually every night) I get out of bed to go and use the toilet half asleep it's like being on a bouncy castle ?.
Hope your delivery went okay and that you got everything you ordered ? and the faff of all that it entails these days to deal with it didn't take too long.

I'll grab some of that excellent hot chocolate now. Goodnight all and gov'nr Doodle take special care of yourself ?

Grammaretto Sat 09-May-20 10:56:52

Hello fellow cellmates.
What an extraordinary medicine to have Cherry you wonder how these things were developed.
I hope you had a better sleep last night.

I had a lie in listening to the Out of Doors programme from Radio Scotland because someone I know was "on" but then there was a surprise link to the Birds of New Zealand so I've sent that on to my family in Wellington where the flowers arrived for DDiL's birthday! She seemed very pleased.

Their lock-down is relaxing a bit but there are still covid cases and it is almost always nurses despite having all the PPE. So much still to be known about this terrible virus.

I think it must be time for second breakfast.

Doodle Sat 09-May-20 12:07:20

Hi all.
cherry that certainly is a strange medicine but if it does the job all well and good. Your description of being on a bouncy castle made me laugh. I definitely think your name should be cheerful cherry. You certainly manage to be upbeat despite having such a serious problem. Hope last night was ok.
grammaretto so pleased your DIL got the flowers you sent. That must have been a nice surprise for her.
We had brunch today. Up too late for breakfast and too early for lunch so we combined the two with cereal and then a hot cross bun. ?
More sewing for me today. I have a handmade card to finish.
Have a good day all.

Rufus2 Sat 09-May-20 13:08:29

All well on your side of The Pond?
BradfordLass73 Not sure, 'cos I'm not on any side of "The Pond", being nowhere near the Atlantic! grin
You must mean "The Ditch" as your PM calls "The Tasman";
All is "well" on our side, thank you, although that will be a relative term for a long time to come! sad
We are entering a 3 stage process of being let out on parole, but if we slacken off with our ablutions we may find ourselves back inside!; at least I'm maintaining a clean ship here as best I can! hmm
I consulted Dr. G about"tyke" and learned it's a terrier ; "a big personality in a tiny package"! Have you been shown at Crufts? A blue winner's ribbon would look cute above your fringe! grin
Good Health
OoRoo wine wine wine (that's 3 I think!)

Dreamkeeper Sat 09-May-20 18:54:15

I must have been put into jankers as you put it Bradford lass I have certainly been missing for a little while so I am in suspenders wondering what our Gov Doodle will have in store for me!!!!!!

These wobbles have come out of the blue and I am having difficulty in shaking them off and of course life in this penitentionary leaves much to be desired when shielded!!
I have been given 2 lots of A/b`s to try clear up a continuing problem, probably associated with the big operation in December. Not very efficient always describing and talking symptoms over the `phone.
Anyway strangely enough they have been playing havoc with my sleep (or rather non sleep) pattern and generally making me worse than better.
Meanwhile some good news by report on the last more minor `op.... yes it was a SC cancer but the surgeon believes they have removed all the problem, will be checked in 3 months.
Enough about me, but a gal has to defend herself when facing sentencing!!!!

Whilst it is very disturbing hearing that you have had another of your "turns" Cherry we really cannot be having that.I second the name Cheerful Cherry" it will suit you nicely!Sincerely hoping you are bouncing back fit and well again.
One of our residents with seizures walks about with a sort of crash helmet on ALL the time.Yet in over a year she has not had a "turn"

Never enough words to describe you Doodle whilst you have such a lovely mixture of heartfelt kindness complimented by such good humour.Long may you reign!!

Here in Wales there has been minor Lockdown changes....more out time to enjoy, the Garden Centres may open IF they are able to open under the social distancing guide lines.
Today it seems the virus has travelled a north westerly direction with a resulting larger number of infections and death.
It is feared it has not fully arrived into our area as yet.

We had some real excitement midway through the VE celebrations yesterday.Whilst watching the TV we heard this almighty bang.............on racing to the window to see what on earth had happened we witnessed a large car had missed the corner near our entrance .......running into first a lamp post and then a brick wall topped with railings.
In next to no time an Ambulance and about 3 police cars were on the scene, followed later by yet some half a dozen men wearing viz jackets. It seems the entire lamp post had to be removed and now we have a gaping 4 metre wall and railing missing!!!!
Just right to allow a mass break out!
The driver visiting her mother here was travelling too fast for the bend plus another car was coming to meet her so she must have panicked.
No real injury to life or limb though.
We on the other hand had to suffer much associated noise whilst everything was made safe and of course in due course some rebuilding work and an erection of a lamp post.
Excitement indeed.
Little wonder I have felt the wobbles!

Hope I am now forgiven for going slightly AWOL!

Keep smiling my cell mates, and above all else Keep Safe.

CherryCezzy Sat 09-May-20 19:20:10

Weird, I returned to my lockdown cell last night about 10:30pm and have noticed today that it seems it was gone 11:30pm that I appeared ?. Hope I didn't flout the terms of confinement' ?

Mamissimo, I don't need any nap when I've had a seizure and fallen out of bed as I am helped or I scramble back into bed (sometimes with absolutely no recall) and go back to sleep. Sometimes when I have a bad one (or one needing rescue medication) in the daytime I really need to sleep so I do then. I've also been known to get up from sitting on the sofa, walk out of the room, up the stairs and put myself into bed all whilst having one type of seizure I have, although I am not aware I am doing it ?

I've asked and asked (various organisations) about having a guard to stop me falling out of bed BradfordLass and am always told the same thing - no, it's not safe as the ones that could be provided tuck under the mattress and consequently I could be more unsafe. Since I am obviously jerking so vigorously ( that's why I fall out of bed) I could dislodge the guard, take it with me and suffer worse injuries than the ones I suffer now.

Is it your health trust you are referring to Mamissimo or is it above that? Either way, that's a disgrace! Mind you, apart from the letter which came from the Chief Medical Officer I've only received letters (2) from the LA and 2 phone calls, nothing from the health trust.

Grammaretto, thanks, I did have a better sleep last night and no seizure ?. I've never really thought that much about how my rescue medication ( or other medication) came about. I know, obviously, there's a lost of pharmacology that goes into these things, maybe I'll "Google" it.
Glad your DiL got the flowers you sent her for her birthday ?

Doodle, I might end up with a smaller but even bouncier "castle" beside the bed instead of a mattress. We have a single airbed which doesn't take up as much room and it means not moving the bed (again). My WP is going to check that it's all okay and if it is he'll charge the air pump and and pump the mattress up ?

Rufus, what are the 3 stages for your parole?

In Wales next week many people will be able to go to a library or garden centre but we're still stuck in stir ?. Not bothered about the library myself, easy to get what I want to read on my devices but both of us being garden lovers and my WP being a lover of gardening we would love to go to a garden centre. Hey ho... ?

I hope you finished the card Doodle

CherryCezzy Sat 09-May-20 19:48:24

Dreamkeeper, I think I was writing my post and when I finished yours appeared.
Wobbles are allowed! Not nice to have them though ?.
Sorry to hear that your antibiotics are giving you gip but great news from your surgeon ?.
Sounds like that was a shocking crash, a big one too. Good to know that there was no serious injuries as a consequence.
We had a shock earlier today got nothing like that - just heavy rumbles of thunder, clearly emanating close by. Strange when the sun was shining so brightly. I remember many years ago going outside to watch a thunderstorm and as I did lightening struck our metal washing pole (not where we live now) and if I'd taken two more steps it would have hit me too. Lucky escape ?

Doodle Sat 09-May-20 19:57:59

Hello everyone.
I’m slightly mellow tonight. Glass of wine on the balcony and two with dinner so feeling a bit hazy and tipsy. So what have you all been up to today?
Hello rufus hope things ok where you are. We are not allowed out at all but hope that may change in the future.
Ooh panache you have been missed but I kept your room for you. ? You will always be excused here, we just like your company. Good news about your last op. Hope the 3 month checkup is good. Shame the ABs interrupt your sleep. If we were closer my DH could pop over and keep you company on his nightly wanderings ? IBS or something like in his case. Sometimes if I wake up when he’s on his wanders I come to check up on him as he walks around the lounge in the dark I often frighten the life out of him by suddenly appearing like some ghostly apparition ?. Well it seems you had some excitement today. Glad no one was hurt but a lot of damage by the sound of it. I am going to make you a couple of thermos flasks of hot chocolate tonight and leave it in your cell so that if you come in late you can have a soothing drink no matter what the hour ?
cherry I think the air bed on the floor sounds the best idea if the bed guard could be dangerous to you. I still chuckle at the thought of you bouncing off to the loo at night. Hope WP does not blow your air bed up too much or you could hit your head on the ceiling ?
Thanks cherry yes I did finish the card. Much better than my first attempt. It took me almost as long to clear up after as it did to make it. Little bits of material and thread and baubles all over the place. I am a really messy crafter ?. Hope you can go to a garden centre soon. Many people seem to think that would be a good first step.

Mamissimo Sat 09-May-20 21:37:37

Ah Doodle I’m shmellow too! We ate in the garden tonight as it’s going to get colder again tomorrow. I have a great deal in this establishment- I cook and the 2 men clear up. It’s smashing because I can prep at my leisure and then flop after dinner.

I haven’t driven a car for nearly eight weeks now and I do hope that when I’m patrolled I can remember what to do! I remarked to DH the other day that I hoped it was like riding a bike but he thought it was somewhat different! We’ve been in too long!

We have had a pair of geese flying in a loop over the house for the last two days. They honk all the time. They’re Canada geese and we don’t want them setting up home here. They make such a mess!

Another text from the NHS today, telling me to be sure to have my own utensils and to wipe the handles in the kitchen before beginning to prepare food. I am shielding with my DH and DS so as we have no contact with the outside world we just follow normal health and hygiene regimes with the exception of quarantining food and post. Excessive advice is very wearing!

Wishing you all a restful night with pleasant dreams! Horlick for me tonight please ?
