I think we can all agree on something.

This sucks.

All of it.

I've never felt grief and sadness like this before.

Every precious life gone earlier than expected.

Every moment of suffering.

Every moment of fear.

Every life event missed out on.

All the missing human contact.

This will take a lifetime to get over.

I just needed to say it somewhere to someone.

I'm holding tight to everything that makes me smile.

Every tiny joyful moment.

Every happy memory.

Hold them close to your hearts everyone.

We have a long journey together, all of us across the world.

Stay safe.

I share your pain absent my friend across the oceans .

I am distraught that I cannot see my grandchildren who used to spend so much time with me . The older ones seem to understand but my baby granddaughter (not yet 2) must think I have deserted her and her mummy . This is so sad for us all.

The global numbers seem to be slowing a little, that's made me feel hopeful

I dont know how they coped in 1918, at the end of the war without the communication we have, the extreme poverty and 50 million deaths world wide.

What we have seems unbearable at times but is nothing compared with a hundred years ago.

Love that Maw

Lovely MawB I will definitely check out the Christopher Eccleston version.

I've been hiding to have a bit of a cry in the evenings and I never cry.

Beginning, middle and end. We will get there.

Maw that’s narrated by Christopher ecclestone on YouTube, he of the granite features

Chewbacca Sun 05-Apr-20 10:10:31

That's grand Maw; thanks for sharing.

MawB Sun 05-Apr-20 10:07:57

Yes it is hard but let’s do all we can to remain positive and thankful for the pinpricks of light in the darkness.
May I share something I have just read?

I'll tell you a tale, that's been recently written
Of a powerful army, so Great it saved Britain.

They didn't have bombs and they didn't have planes.
They fought with their hearts and they fought with their brains .

They didn't have bullets, armed just with a mask.
We sent them to war, with one simple task

To show us the way, to lead and inspire us
To protect us from harm and fight off the virus

It couldn't be stopped by our bullet proof vests
An invisible enemy, invaded our chests .

So we called on our weapon, our soldiers in Blue .
All Doctors, All Nurses, Your Country needs you

We clapped on our streets, hearts bursting with pride.
As they went off to war, while we stayed inside

They struggled at first, as they searched for supplies.
But they stared down the virus, in the whites of its eyes.

They leaped from the trenches and didn't think twice.
Some never came back, the ultimate price

So tired, so weary, yet still they fought on
As the virus was beaten and the battle was won

The many of us, owe so much, to so few
The brave and the bold, our heroes in Blue

So let's line the streets and remember our debt.
We love you, our heroes
Lest we forget .

My grandchildren live in Australia so I’m used to missing them but, like you pikachu I can still feel the hug with the 18 month old when he was here in September.

PamelaJ1 I had quite a few chocolate bars in the cupboard but I bought them as a Thank you for people who were helping eg postie, refuse collector etc my little nan used to always carry chocolate bars and give them to bus drivers so they'd stop the bus outside her house. I'm not really a chocolate eater but yesterday was such an upsetting day for me that I couldnt sleep so yes I not only ate 1 chocolate bar I ate 3 . Which is the reason I always need to diet. Today is another day and no chocolate in the housegrin

Pikachu Sun 05-Apr-20 07:47:02

Yes, miss my grandchildren terribly. I can still feel that last hug ?

absent Sun 05-Apr-20 07:28:36

I miss my grandchildren, especially the two who come to my house after school three days a week – actually, the youngest is still pre-school and spends all of Friday with me. I miss seeing my daughter and/or son-in-law when someone arrives to pick up the boys.

However, I am retired and am now used to spending quite a lot of time quietly at home. I like being able to get on with whatever I plan to do, whether household chores, weeding, knitting or reading a library book. I actually hate shopping with a passion rare in a woman my age, so very short visits to the local supermarket are fine with me.

I have a teddy bear in a front window and smile when I hear a child spot him. I have friendly neighbours and, indeed friendly strangers who chat to me from their front gardens as I walk past on my way home from buying bread or milk.

May7, you have been on a diet for a year and you have chocolate in the house.
Was it in a glass box with the message, Break in an emergency!?

Evie64 Sun 05-Apr-20 03:28:50

OMG, I think I'd marry this bar of chocolate if I could! Delicious grin. Think I'm gonna watch a bit of TV now girlies, night night, great talking to you.

Starblaze Sun 05-Apr-20 03:25:48

Did someone say chocolate? I just remembered I hid a stash.

May7 Sun 05-Apr-20 03:22:52

?

Evie64 Sun 05-Apr-20 03:18:56

May7, now there's an idea! I have a bar of fruit and nut in the cupboard. F**k it. I'm going for it, and if anyone comments on my weight, I'll just blame you okay? grin

May7 Sun 05-Apr-20 03:16:35

I’ve just ploughed my way though a bar of chocolate. Been on a diet for over a year but tonight Nah

Starblaze Sun 05-Apr-20 03:11:07

I think it's the mental energy and adrenaline running through us. We are all stuck in flight or fight mode. No one feels safe either for ourselves or people we love right now. Need to make sure the body rests when the mind doesn't

Evie64 Sun 05-Apr-20 03:00:54

Yup, loads of people awake although not because they have just returned from a party or long trip sad

Starblaze Sun 05-Apr-20 02:54:22

No, strange to be awake so late and see so many people struggling to get a good rest.

May7 Sun 05-Apr-20 02:37:24

Some of us cant sleep tonight hey

Starblaze Sun 05-Apr-20 02:32:31

We will, hopefully stronger, more compassionate, more unified human beings smile
