moggie INFECTED MEAT.......
like bats?

rosecarmel Mon 06-Apr-20 16:29:41

It's sad, no matter how it contracted it-

Chestnut Mon 06-Apr-20 14:17:50

moggie57 - how could the meat be infected with corona? I thought the tiger caught it from the keeper.

arosebyanyothername Mon 06-Apr-20 13:50:45

Thought that was going to be Tiger Woods! I was already to tell DH shock

moggie57 Mon 06-Apr-20 13:48:47

moggie57 Mon 06-Apr-20 13:48:08

dont you think its keeper could have passed it on to the tiger through infected MEAT.

SalsaQueen Mon 06-Apr-20 13:46:18

Willow500 The RSPCA has already had cats and dogs dumped by morons who think their pet can spread Covid-19.

MawB

So you won't be inviting a tiger to tea then?
They do tend to eat too much

If felines get it the garden birds will benefit from fewer pet cats.

Oopsminty Mon 06-Apr-20 08:50:50

She had a dry cough and was off her food

I assume they sedated her to run tests

Pleased to read they are expected to recover

MawB Mon 06-Apr-20 08:49:02

Well I won’t be getting anywhere near 2 m away from a tiger ?

M0nica Mon 06-Apr-20 08:19:30

Davidhs grin

EllanVannin Mon 06-Apr-20 07:25:31

Knock it out, Davidhs. It may have been snuffly as cats are when they develop feline 'flu.

EllanVannin Mon 06-Apr-20 07:23:31

Dogs also as a German Shepherd died along with another dog.
From the beginning, it had been reported from Wuhan that it was transferable to/from felines.
This virus is a combination of Sars/Mers ( both corona's ) which were first detected amongst the markets in China where cats are used as food.

Davidhs Mon 06-Apr-20 07:12:24

Why did they test a Tiger?, taking a throat swab must have been tricky.

Willow500 Mon 06-Apr-20 07:08:42

I just hope this doesn't result in people dumping their pets in the shelters (or worse) - it does say it's not affecting domestic animals and the tigers are expected to make a full recovery. Very sad if it spreads to big cats in the wild sad

Chestnut Mon 06-Apr-20 00:04:08

I have also heard of cats catching coronavirus.

Chestnut Mon 06-Apr-20 00:02:47

I've already posted this on another thread with some details.

Oopsminty Sun 05-Apr-20 23:56:34

It was Covid19

Seems like the feline world might be susceptible

Callistemon Sun 05-Apr-20 23:52:43

Was it Covid19 or another corona virus?

Callistemon Sun 05-Apr-20 23:52:07

So that must be human to animal transmission, unless it was endemic in that species and not discovered previously.
Interesting and worrying.
