Hairy faces and social distancing

Social distancing does have some upsides - I usually feel that I must remove chin hairs and what can only be described as my moustache. Keeping 2 metres apart means that nobody can see my beard growing - hurrah!

Every morning I look critically at my face in a mirror near the window, and if I spot a hair on my chin or lips I just pluck it. Takes no time at all.
On holiday in Vietnam a few years ago I went for a walk in Ho Chi Minh city and a young girl approached me and said "Facial hairs Madam? My mother can fix that for you." I followed her a few yards into her mothers pavement salon, There the mother gave me a threading session and removed all the hairs in a few minutes using 2 cotton threads. Wonderful! But now if I go on holiday I take care to always pack my tweezers to save embarrassment.

I have to say I think my chin is balder than usual- thanks to having plenty of time to sit and pluck the hairs out of it! I bought an eyebrow trimmer just before the crisis so I like to think overall at the moment I look OK. I hope my DH appreciates it- normally I make sure my face is smooth so I can kiss the GCs without stabbing them!

I can picture the queue at A and E with a lot of scorched faces! Sounds terrifying!

Lighten up, paddyanne. There’s no need to be nasty.

As no-one can see me just now I’m taking the opportunity not to pluck my eyebrows. I’ve overplucked for years and they’re looking much better already ?

I can picture the queues out the door of the salons after the lockdown ends - not just for facial hair either!

Crikey - you are very brave shock I’ve been eyeing up that No No thing which I think does pretty much the same thing with a heated wire but the Amazon reviews are not good

It’s actual burning. For those fine hairs that you can’t pluck away. I don’t like chin waxing, it gives me a rash. I wax my top lip but pluck the large chin hairs. For the rest of chin/neck/face I use a lighter and run the tip of the flame under/over the areas I want hair removal.

My daughter told me about it. It’s what they do in eastern countries for fine facial hair. It’s the best combination I’ve tried (wax, pluck, burn).

Oh yes Alison333 Hercule Poirot watch out !!!

GagaJo 'slash and burn' sounds a bit worrying! Wondering about ordering one of those men's beard management tins from Amazon?! I think I'll need on in two months....waxed moustaches anybody?

One woman’s light hearted desire for a visit to the hairdresser www.facebook.com/1062289168/posts/10219798961858808/?sfnsn=scwspwa&d=w&vh=i&extid=YTjAXuM4lbF8xf8C&d=w&vh=i

I need a full on session of waxing, plucking and slash and burn. Since NO ONE other than DD and GS see me, it isn't happening until the night before I start online, video conference work.

Hetty I was talking about post social distancing haircuts. I have an appointment booked for 25 June, moved from late April. It may of course have to be rebooked for a later date.

Paddyann Lighten up.

EllanVannin Mon 06-Apr-20 16:46:37

Sounds like the circus is in town. grin grin ( bearded ladies )

Hetty58 Mon 06-Apr-20 15:37:20

Hair appointments, M0nica, really, with social distancing? Do they use long-handled tree loppers?

The advantages of wearing a mask are becoming obvious - apart from avoiding any airborne virus, a few stray hairs are no problem!

paddyanne Mon 06-Apr-20 15:34:04

I think Nicola has more to do than sort out her moustache SD but go on have a wee dig at her while she's working her socks off.Shows YOU for what you are !

M0nica Mon 06-Apr-20 15:32:22

I was contemplating my beard today and wondering how many electrolysis sessions I will need when at last I am let out.

Eyebrows aren't so much of a problem, they can be sorted in one 'tint and shape' session. ditto hair;one cut and it is sorted (if you can get an appointment), oh dear, all those electrolysis session, possible 3 or 4.

My boss is a bit of a stickler so she’s asked for our cameras to be turned on - I’m business on the top half and comfort on the bottom, which amuses DH and the DCs no end grin

vampirequeen Mon 06-Apr-20 14:17:50

I had to remove my facial hair yesterday because I was in danger of becoming St Barbara.

SueDonim Mon 06-Apr-20 14:17:32

My dd works from home and they’ve been told to turn their cameras off to help with the broadband signal. Oh the joy of working in fleecy leopard print pj’s! grin

SirChenjin Mon 06-Apr-20 14:06:41

One of the joys of video conferencing my colleagues from home is that no-one can see my whiskers if I sit far enough away from the camera grin

SueDonim Mon 06-Apr-20 13:58:01

Nicola Sturgeon is sporting a fine moustache in a photo of her in today’s papers. grin

sodapop Mon 06-Apr-20 13:15:07

I did some plucking and depilating yesterday. I now have one eyebrow which is almost bald and the other is straggly. No moustache though !!
