Feeling a bit fed up with the current situation. We have recently retired and our plan was to travel for a few months in our motorhome and go away as and when we wanted to and were looking forward to being able to do that after years of working full time and being tied to annual leave. Now we are tied due to this situation.

I know we have a lot to be grateful for as we haven’t lost anyone and we are lucky that we live in beautiful countryside, but I’m also worried about our son who lost his job a while ago and this situation isn’t helping him to get another one.

Just trying to keep positive and hopefully things will work out.

Anyone else in a similar place?

We both retired about 18 months ago and were enjoying the freedom to do what we pleased, when we pleased. We have a caravan in Devon and I had (note past tense) a very active social life through a couple of motorcycling groups I am part of and also loved just being able to get on the bike and ride, have a day out together etc. We are both feeling very depressed, claustrophobic and locked in, and because of our time of life, never knowing when our faculties are going to go downhill and whether we will be fit to resume our previous long awaited free life activities again. We're trying to be positive but there's only so much false positivity we can muster. I am having days when one minute I am perfectly fine (sort of), the next minute I'm in tears for no reason at all. Sorry for the chuntering, just about had enough now.

My DH retired exactly a year ago and I retired 6 months before him. We only moved to this area last august and we were loving our new lives. We had great plans to visit local beauty spots etc etc this spring and summer. We are lucky in many respects, we are healthy, we have a garden - life could be so much more difficult. But there are times when I wish that this wasn't happening.
Sorry for the moan, I've hit a bit of a wobble these last few days.

We retired three years ago but last year was a wash out with recurring skin cancer treatments. So many plans for this year but fortunately only one family break booked and that has been moved to a much later date.

My friend lost her much loved brother. I lost my youngest brother to cancer nearly three years ago. I want to make sure as many people as possible are safe. Holidays can wait for now.

We’re calling it the retirement thief!

We have been retired for a couple of years but had family commitments. This year we really thought we would do that travelling without having to plan or worry about anybody else, and then this happened. Still I keep remind myself that this too shall pass!
