You can't please all of the people all of the time Well said MawB! You explained it in one sentence!

Many people have been saying Why can’t Garden Centres open? Why can’t I buy paint and use this time for decorating? I am desperate to have my hair cut or see a podiatrist. These people woukd have to go back to work to enable this and have to get there, as do bus drivers, train drivers and posties. We can’t complain about all services bring withdrawn and then complain at an attempt to reinstate them and everybody seems to be able to come up with examples where it could be done safely. By “alert” I am interpreting it as “use your common sense”.
I think those of us who are older are being given more of a right to choose safe activities, but childcare and hugging your grandchildren are not among them yet.

At 60 you can do more or less what you want apart from visiting other households ( you may meet up with 1 for recreational exercise) but are advised against public transport unless absolutely necessary eg if going back to work and driving/cycling/ walking out of the question,go back to work provided you can still respect social distancing and hygiene as before. No handshaking, kissing or hugging . Shopping as before - because at 60 you were not in total lockdown like those shielding.
Pretty much what Germany and Denmark are permitting which many people, chafing at lockdown have been praising.
You can’t please all of the people all of the time.

For your own sanity, don't go to the other thread. It's like witnessing the mantra of an indoctrinated cult.

Beau1958. There's no need to be confused. Nothing has really changed. Apparently, you can go out all day and catch infection if you want.

There was deliberately vague waffle about being encouraged back to work. That was because the furlough scheme is about to be cut, so people who can't work from home will be forced to leave home to work anyway and won't get much financial help. There would appear to be a lack of joined up thinking about transport to/from work and childcare, especially for pre-schoolers. More people are going to suffer financial difficulties, but the cult don't care about that - they're alright!

Put simply, you haven't been given permission to visit your children. The situation is the same as it is now. If you are 60 and have no health issues you have never been told you have to stay at home totally. You have always been able to go out for exercise and shopping. If your family is relatively close, there is no reason why you shouldn't meet up for a joint walk, but you are still advised to keep your distance, which means no hugging or close contact.

There’s another thread, ‘PM’s Message’, lots of questions and answers.

But no, we are still on Lockdown and no, you can’t visit family still.
