Trump’s self medication

US President Donald Trump has said he's taking an anti-malarial drug as a preventative measure against Covid-19, although scientists have warned about side effects.
The World Health Organization has said it's concerned by reports of individuals self-medicating and causing themselves serious harm.
But apparently he has been self dosing with Hydroxyquinonine for the last week and a half.
Hmm
It has no proven protective qualities against Covid 19.
It can in fact cause heart arrhythmia even death.
Even his tame news puppy Fox News have warned vehemently against following his example
As I said - don’t try this at home folks!

Another complication is that it can affect your sight. A condition of being on the drug is that you must have a specialised eye test yearly, that often needs a hospital appointment.

No-one would want to put themselves through that, unless absolutely necessary. His medical advisor should have discussed all this. I wonder if he is blustering and isn't actually taking it.

When mine was stopped in Coronary Care unit, after nearly twenty years of it, on increasingly higher doses, I asked my RA consultant, Why?
The cardiologists don't like it,, he said!
It shouldn't be taken lightly, just because it might help.

It has also discovered that one of the RA biologics drugs has been successful in helping seriously ill Covid patients.
At nearly £1000, a dose, I don't see the NHS rushing to prescribe it.

The irony is that my treatment, using biologics, was postponed due to Covid!

The thought that this madman is President of the most powerful country in the world, terrifies me.

Perhaps he actually has been prescribed it for a genuine condition. He's not going to admit that anyway, is he? Just saying. wink

Curlywhirly, Trump would lose his hair if he went out in a strong wind! He wears those silly red baseball hats to keep it on.

Did any of you see the press conference where he announced this? The faces of the people/advisers standing behind him were priceless, their chins just dropped! No-one dared look up for fear of bursting out laughing. Reminded me of a performance of the Emperor´s New Clothes.

Hydroxychloroquine is a drug of choice for the treatment of Lupus (I'm on it). Lupus sufferers in the USA are running short of supplies and are very worried- this man is truly an idiot.

I also read that because hydroxychloroquine is often taken with zinc it’s actually the zinc that is protecting people against the virus. In which case I’ll continue with my daily zinc supplement.

There is going to be a proper UK trial of this soon so perhaps for once he might be right.

I’ve read that it’s going to be given to health care workers. Is that correct?

Megs36 Thu 21-May-20 15:29:16

I wonder if he washes it down with a nice glass of Dettol!!

Maybee70

the side effects are hair loss and mental confusion
Could it be that he has been taking it for years, then, although the hair loss isn't apparent yet?

Could be a wig, of course.

MayBee70 Thu 21-May-20 16:12:51

No one would have a wig that bad!Mind you, perhaps another side effect is orange skin.
