So so pleased to hear that the Queen will be knighting Captain Tom herself .He deserves the best and she truly is whether you are a Royalist or not . Keep safe Your Majesty , your country needs you ?

Anniebach Sat 18-Jul-20 21:50:10

annepl I didn’t say or think you had those thoughts, I was
speaking of what I have heard people say, I was not aggressive,
yes you did apologise and I did say you had no reason to
apologise, I accept you are a republican and respect this.

Sorry you thought my reply re Charles being evil etc was directed at you

annep1 Sat 18-Jul-20 21:37:51

Me is correct. It's the objective pronoun after an adjective Avalon.

Anniebach I don't know everyone. I meant I didn't call them evil or a witch. But I think you know perfectly well that I meant that. For some reason you always want to be aggressive to me. I am puzzled as to why this is. I have even pm'd you to apologise for answers that may have seemed rude because I didn't want to upset you. But I give up. I won't answer any comments you make in future. You seem to get pleasure from being unpleasant to me.

Anniebach Sat 18-Jul-20 21:07:04

annepl Nobody called Charles evil and Camilla a witch ?
You know everyone?

25Avalon Sat 18-Jul-20 21:04:07

I consulted the oracle aka dh who is a stickler for grammar and he thought “the queen and myself” was best.

Anniebach Sat 18-Jul-20 21:02:39

Nannytrace. Anne had an affair with Tim Lawrence, a maid stole love letters and sold them to a newspaper, she like Charles divorced and remarried. Curious now, what has
Edward done ?

Callistemon Sat 18-Jul-20 19:36:32

It's shut.
You're excused grin

I need new specs too.

Bellanonna Sat 18-Jul-20 19:36:08

Sir Tom did his walk for the NHS. So corona virus is relevant.
Anyway, what the heck?

merlotgran Sat 18-Jul-20 19:28:10

Sorry! Should've gone to Specsavers.

The thread police strikes again!

The Queen knighting Captain Tom was in the NEWS

Got it?

It's under Coronavirus!!

It should be changed to News or Chat
Crazygran can you ask GNHQ to move it?

Nannytrace Sat 18-Jul-20 19:08:01

I love the queen, she’s amazing. She has been badly let down by her sons one way and another over the years. Princess Anne on the other hand is a chip off the old block. She doesn’t seem to have a sense of entitlement but she has a sense of duty. Her brothers could learn a thing or two from the way she behaves.

annep1 Sat 18-Jul-20 18:48:51

Most educated people say it wrongly now. It really annoys me.

Ellianne Sat 18-Jul-20 18:28:39

Well as long as she doesn't say, "Philip and me would like to thank you all ....." Grandma70s.

Grandma70s Sat 18-Jul-20 18:25:16

I winced at the poor grammar, too. I’d have thought someone his age would have been taught how to use ‘I’and ‘me’ correctly - but I have heard the Queen make exactly that mistake.

Thank you grammarians. I thought I was right, not 25Avalon.

Peardrop50 Sat 18-Jul-20 18:14:25

Lovely to see our queen looking so well and obviously happy to be honouring a wonderful man, who seemed to appreciate it too.

annep1 Sat 18-Jul-20 18:10:37

It's the queen and me. ..it's object after a preposition...between is a preposition.

Anniebach What a ridiculous comment. Nobody called Charles evil or Camilla a witch. Honestky! (sigh of exasperation.) .

Bellanonna Sat 18-Jul-20 18:01:49

It is!

Calendargirl Sat 18-Jul-20 17:53:27

‘The Queen and me’ is correct surely.

Ellianne Sat 18-Jul-20 17:52:32

Bellanonna maybe I winced, then, though nothing detracts from his achievement.

Ellianne Sat 18-Jul-20 17:51:04

He was being grammatically correct. What else would you expect?
Are you sure 25Avalon?

Bellanonna Sat 18-Jul-20 17:43:30

Correct Ellianne. But I wouldn’t have cringed

25Avalon Sat 18-Jul-20 17:41:42

He was being grammatically correct. What else would you expect?

Ellianne Sat 18-Jul-20 17:24:19

I thought that too Anniebach.

I did cringe though when he said "The conversation was between the Queen and I."
ME for goodness sake!

Anniebach Sat 18-Jul-20 17:19:57

If he refused to repeat his conversation with the Queen how can this be true ?
