As a result Victoria is now called the "State of Disaster" with an absolute curfew from 8.00pm till 5.00am for everyone except essential workers. All schools resume "studying at home", again with a few minor exceptions. Only for 6 weeks!
Panic buying has resumed; only one person per household allowed to shop; etc etc.!

Start whistling; "Pack up your troubles in your old kit-bag..."

I agree...we've been doing everything by the book...missed all my family so much..just beginning to feel a little bit of normality..seeing grandchildren..tea in the garden etc..when "wallop"..we are back in lockdown...since midnight last Friday...had to tell my grandchildren that they couldn't come for the day..older ones understand..but the 4year old doesn't...
Selfish, inconsiderate people just put themselves first,do what they want,when and where they want...and UP go the case numbers again ?

There has not been a spike in Bournemouth Oopsminty just a slight rise after the crowding reported a month ago.

Main rise seems to be in city areas where families are living in close proximity.

Masks apparently were supposed to be worn in shops from about two weeks ago. In the large supermarkets it is not enforced some wear and some do not. The security that was on doors until that time has now stopped and no body is policing this. Even in the small local shops people walk in and out NO MASKS
There is a big spike up North and now enforced lockdown again and heard this morning it is spreading fast.
I think we are already seeing the 2nd wave and it is being played down but it is happening.
Also heard that 50 to 70 year old are going to be asked to stay at home and be careful.

It’s not just the obvious large groups socialising outside in my view, I’ve seen and heard of multiple family groups meeting in gardens, who if it rains/gets chilly move indoors with no hope or regard to social distancing. We are not supposed to cuddle family members, including grandchildren, yet many do including some people on here. I’m not condoning the large groups on beaches and elsewhere, but the localised restrictions seem to have been mainly caused by family interactions inside people’s homes.

It's quite simple to stay home , this will be over one day but they seem to have no sense, its the same with holidays abroad, why not be content to stay home for this year.

But will it be over ? How long do we stay locked down? Are waiting for a vaccine? Could be a long wait.

It's tricky. I do agree that some people behave in a wilful manner but I'm unsure as to what we're supposed to do.

The virus will not be defeated. Wrong word probably. But I think we are going to have to learn to live with it somehow.

I have children who work in the NHS and education sector. They are having to go to work

My neighbour had a gas engineer round the other day. He was saying he's not allowed to mix with more than two households in his family but for work goes into approximately 8 homes a day.

Has Bournemouth experienced a massive rise in cases after the beach madness a couple of weeks ago? I've not heard anything.

I know, MerylStreep, it's not at all practical, unfortunately.

A lot of people are applying common sense while trying to do fairly normal things. A lot aren't.

I have to confess to going away in our motorcaravan for a couple of nights. But we're self-contained, didn't mix with other people apart from brief chats outside, went for long walks and stayed within our region. Not much chance of passing anything on or catching anything. But you wouldn't find me on a crowded beach.

I live in a rural county and we have even had crowds of people at our beauty spots which is quite unusual because we are not on the tourist trail. BUT many families are not going abroad and some are travelling distances from busy towns and cities where there may be little open space for children.

I feel sorry for those living by the sea where people are thronging, but can also feel for those who just want their children to have a holiday, even if for a day.

I agree that many young ones, and old, can be thoughtless when distancing, but take comfort in the fact that they are outside, in the main, where the risks are less, and I have the choice not to mix with crowds.

May be a different picture come the winter when people are mixing inside more. I think the stats show that mostly the virus is spread through family groups mixing.

Last night there was a lot of loud music with what sounded like a DJ and a professional sound system. I looked out of my back bedroom window and could see into someone's garden about 70 yards away that they had a party going on. They had set up a gazebo, flashing lights, etc and it was all happening. No social distancing. Plenty of people there - 20 or more of them. The noise was tremendous, even when I closed all my windows. My house was vibrating with the thud! thud! thud! of the beat.

I was absolutely furious and considered phoning 101 but feel the police have so much to have to deal with at the moment with raves involving hundreds of people, so I didn't.

This morning I had a message from a neighbour to say that the host of the party is a nurse who wanted to celebrate her 49th birthday and invited all her nursing colleagues because she felt they needed to let their hair down !!!!

If even the nurses are doing "a Dominic Cummings", then we are never going to get rid of this virus. I am in my 22nd week of solitary confinement and worried about how it will be in the winter and how I will feel. I am still absolutely furious with people who behave like this, idiots who crowd the beaches and the pubs ..... selfish beyond belief! I am ashamed of them.

I think a second spike will be during the childrens summer holidays when parents will gather on the beaches and in the parks during the good weather I can't see us getting away with it at all.

Totally agree. I feel the same. I live by some lovely beaches, but they are packed with all sorts at the moment - no thought to social distancing. Same in the supermarket.

I have been caring for vulnerable and elderly family and neighbours since this all began - and I am still being super careful. I am very aware that in many cases, I am the weak link. We are not socialising as yet, and I am still working from home all of the time.

Looking around my locality though, you would be forgiven in thinking that this was all over now... virus? What virus? Zero social distancing, no one wears a face mask, shops have removed their sanitizer stations. It’s business as usual! If we avoid a second wave, I will be very surprised!

I heard in a discussion about this on the radio recently (could've been tv) - the young are out and about, they're of working age, they don't tend to die from Covid (I know some do, but speaking generally here) they're wanting some freedom.

Whereas we older ones are being very cautious. Quite right too.

So gradually, herd immunity is being allowed to happen...and the economy is slowly coming back to life.

Something's got to happen. We can't all go on as if it's the end of life as we know it. I think it could be a positive sign.

It makes me cross as well. Any new rise in Covid will probably be caused by these people who were too selfish to keep socially distanced, but they are so pigheaded it will have nothing to do with them, it will be someones else's fault!

Besides the annoyance of the thoughtlessness, selfishness etc. I just cannot understand how people can enjoy being crowded on a train in this heat to go to a crowded beach to sit on pebbles or get sand everywhere, and get sunburnt and annoyed with shouting and screaming of hordes of children etc. etc and then have to travel in a crowded train again back home...or if driving, sit in a traffic jam for hours

Wont make any difference there are mature women on here who think its fine to flock to quiet places and maybe carry the virus with them!
If they haven't learned by middle age or more then theres no chance of young people...SOME young people thinking it doesn't affect them .But but its infringing their civil liberties telling them they cant go where they want... dontcha know...they dont seem to understand that their civil liberties will die with them if they catch it

Yes, to a large extent.

The country seems to be split into two - those who are being cautious (and that includes all age groups; some youngsters are very frightened) and those who have no imaginations and don't care.

Do they not care whether they spread the virus to those they love? They might get over it themselves but their families might not.

I understand that it's very difficult for some people, but this thoughtlessness is making it very frightening for those who have genuine concerns for their safety. You can go out and do things without being so careless.

I've said it before - those who are not following the rules should have their names taken and be told that, if they get ill, they go to the back of the queue for treatment!

etheltbags, I feel exactly like you do. I want to come out of this alive and well. My family too. But other people take risks with our lives.

When I'm out with my grandson, and people approach us.

When I go to the shop and idiots walk directly next to me with no mask on.

The government telling us we're heading into the 2nd wave and that there will be regional closures at the same time as offering us money off if we eat in restaurants.
