Seems that the government is making decisions based on ideological grounds rather than use the expertise that we have to hand in England. On the basis that we may be in the eye of the storm somehow the government needs to get a grip. Their record to date is appalling but they seem content to plough on. These virologists wrote to the government weeks ago but haven't had a response.

Well Furret Twitter has apparently removed fake news posts. I think it’s a waste of time engaging with them on here, but wonder what filter system GN has........if any?

Curlywhirly Thu 06-Aug-20 08:46:20

Firecracker I know that there are various methods of contraception : the pill, coil, insertion of hormones under the skin - but complete sterilisation via an injection? News to me!

Firecracker123 Thu 06-Aug-20 08:23:06

There is an injection to stop you getting pregnant I had it years ago.

The birth control shot (sometimes called Depo-Provera, the Depo shot, or DMPA) contains the hormone progestin. Progestin stops you from getting pregnant by preventing ovulation.

growstuff these (nearly-always far right) conspiracists are of the same mind-set as those who set fire to to mobile masts. because they thought G5 was somehow beaming the virus at us.

Yes, they do harm.

Here is a fact check about Bill Gates for those who care to read it.

Furret Thu 06-Aug-20 07:51:10

Greeneyedgirl

Have we checked with them Furret?

I asked them to look at it. But nothing.

growstuff Thu 06-Aug-20 01:49:48

Wow!

I wonder if these nutjobs realise how much harm they do:

www.typeinvestigations.org/investigation/2020/05/12/the-long-strange-history-of-bill-gates-population-control-conspiracy-theories/

Anyway, back to sane dicsussions on lockdowns, statistics and mask wearing ...

Curlywhirly Wed 05-Aug-20 23:57:31

Sorry typo - obviously Bill Gates didn't administer the injections himself! Tthat should have read that Bill Gates was responsible for sterilising .......

Curlywhirly Wed 05-Aug-20 23:54:21

Must say I was bemused when Anna Brees mentioned that Bill Gates has sterilised many African women (without their knowledge or consent) by injecting them via a vacination programme. So how come women in the western world are still having an operation if they wish to be sterilised? Surely a simple injection 'a la Bill Gates' would cost the NHS far less money? ?

Curlywhirly Wed 05-Aug-20 23:42:24

Anna Brees herself says she no expert! I'm with you Callistemon I'd rather get my facts from the experts.

maddyone Wed 05-Aug-20 22:30:26

Who’s Anna Brees?

Callistemon Wed 05-Aug-20 22:19:48

I think I prefer to check facts with the experts.

I've never heard of Anna Brees and, having checked, am not sure what her qualifications are. If any.

growstuff Wed 05-Aug-20 22:13:30

Why on earth would I be getting nervy? grin

I haven't addressed anybody as an idiot - only the people who believe conspiracy theory nonsense.

And, no, I won't be wasting my time with Anna Brees (that's the second time her name has been brought up - wonder why).

NannyC2 Wed 05-Aug-20 21:38:21

Sounds like you are getting a little nervy, growstuff?
As a writer and a former 'senior manager' in the NHS, I try to be courteous to people and not address others as 'idiots.'

You are not for free speech then?
You don't wish to listen to other people's side of things for which I gave reference to?

Perhaps you would like to get in touch with Anna Brees and tell her your thoughts?

growstuff Wed 05-Aug-20 21:26:10

lemongrove

DNA altering technology NannyC2 .....would that be some sort of alien DNA by any chance? ??
Of course you have a right to an opinion as does DT, but don’t expect anyone with sense and intelligence to agree with you.

On this, I agree with you.

growstuff Wed 05-Aug-20 21:22:46

Furret If it weren't for the fact that a handful of absolute idiots believe this stuff, I'd find it laughable. It really should be banned.

Greeneyedgirl Wed 05-Aug-20 20:11:44

Have we checked with them Furret?

Furret Wed 05-Aug-20 20:06:55

Please do not try to mislead people, growstuff.
Your reference - wait for it - is funded by Bill and Melinda Gate Foundation.
Look at July data www.henryford.com/news/2020/07/hydro-treatment-study
Bill Gates is determined to ensure everyone gets his vaccine even though it has a DNA altering technology within it - no thanks!

To answer your other question, yes, I do have a friend called Donald TRUMP and NOT afraid to say so. Everyone has a right to speak and not be afraid of what others may think. You, rightfully have your beliefs and I have mine. Amen

Conspiracy theories such as these are banned on other social media sites but apparently ok on GN?

Ellianne Wed 05-Aug-20 19:43:05

72 cas confirmés, la majorité des jeunes de 18 à 25 ans
I don't think the figures need any translation. In a small Breton coastal town.

Caro57 Wed 05-Aug-20 19:42:02

I, too, agree with Lemongrove and JenniferE and would also like to mention that the world is dealing with something it has never seen before and which appears to behave in a fairly unique way. Give the experts a break

Callistemon Wed 05-Aug-20 19:36:01

Here in France, people who don’t follow the rules the government made to protect us, get fined. That’s the only way to make people behave for their own good. Britain is a laughing stock over here. We now have to wear masks in the street. It’s hardly surprising that we have half the number of deaths per million people than the U.K.
Get a grip Boris and your lot!!

Really?

I posted a while ago now about several young French people overseas who were desperately worried about their parents and grandparents back home in France because people all around them were breaking the rules.

Ellianne Wed 05-Aug-20 19:28:53

Yes, France is struggling with new cases Firecracker. My French friends over there certainly aren't laughing at Britain, they have more pressing worries in their homeland. The area we visit in Southern Brittany has a curfew from 9 pm til dawn on its beaches.
This brings me back to supposing it is younger people spreading the virus. We never saw any older people on the beaches at night time!

Peardrop50 Wed 05-Aug-20 18:53:13

Agree wholeheartedly with you Lemongrove.
Also heartened by the numbers agreeing with the good sense of Lemon’s posts.

maddyone Wed 05-Aug-20 18:51:34

Firecracker
Well said, I’ve seen that too. France are not doing particularly well. Cases are rising in Germany, Greece, and France.

Jillybird there is a study on antibodies, which I think is ongoing at Kings College. They checked 90 staff and patients from Guys & St Thomas’ who had had COVID-19.

They did find antibodies peak at 3 weeks and waned thereafter, similar to other coronoviruses. However they are not yet sure whether the antibody level plateaus or will maintain a level of immunity to further infection.

It’s worth checking it out for further info. It’s still too early for definitive results I think.
