Seems that the government is making decisions based on ideological grounds rather than use the expertise that we have to hand in England. On the basis that we may be in the eye of the storm somehow the government needs to get a grip. Their record to date is appalling but they seem content to plough on. These virologists wrote to the government weeks ago but haven't had a response.

I can understand how folks get frustrated and angry about how the virus etc is being handled but , just for a minute, think about the scale of the task involved , trying to save lives, orgainise lockdowns, cope with NHS workload, furlows, and on and on,,, I think that whoever is in charge has a very difficult job on their hands I dont envy them one little bit

The difference is you have gendarmes at the ready round every corner in France, reddevil!

DNA altering technology NannyC2 .....would that be some sort of alien DNA by any chance? ??
Of course you have a right to an opinion as does DT, but don’t expect anyone with sense and intelligence to agree with you.

Here in France, people who don’t follow the rules the government made to protect us, get fined. That’s the only way to make people behave for their own good. Britain is a laughing stock over here. We now have to wear masks in the street. It’s hardly surprising that we have half the number of deaths per million people than the U.K.
Get a grip Boris and your lot!!

Oh, thank you so much for your comment Greeneyedgirl - how right you are, Bless you.

To answer your other question, yes, I do have a friend called Donald TRUMP and NOT afraid to say so. Everyone has a right to speak and not be afraid of what others may think. You, rightfully have your beliefs and I have mine. Amen

Don’t be daft growstuff people don’t want to hear from the experts anymore. YouTube is where it’s at grin

Please don't waste your GP's valuable time asking about hydroxychloroquine. There is no benefit against Covid-19. www.recoverytrial.net/news/statement-from-the-chief-investigators-of-the-randomised-evaluation-of-covid-19-therapy-recovery-trial-on-hydroxychloroquine-5-june-2020-no-clinical-benefit-from-use-of-hydroxychloroquine-in-hospitalised-patients-with-covid-19

Do you have a friend called Donald?

Christingle is certainly right when she says this has never been about saving lives - it's what lies behind it that is more terrifying....and no, I am not a conspiracist like the growing thousands who are now seeing a clearer picture! (Read about them in my last reference at the end)

Some great news is that the 'Crowd Justice's' challenge against the UK Government lockdown will continue to be heard after the Court of Appeal yesterday ruled that the case highlighted ‘fundamental’ concerns over the accountability of Government Ministers.

The Judicial Review will now proceed to a rolled-up hearing expected to be held at the Court of Appeal during the week commencing the 28th September after a ruling was handed down by Lord Justice Hickinbottom.

The hearing will decide on whether the case should progress to a full Appeal which would see the Government once again pressed to defend the introduction of measures which were described by the court as “possibly the most restrictive regime on the public life of persons and businesses ever.”

Lord Justice Hickinbottom said that the legal challenge "potentially raises fundamental issues concerning the proper spheres for democratically-accountable Ministers of the Government and judges."

Owing to Government restrictions, the first hearing was held virtually. However, Lord Justice Hickinbottom ordered in his review that the case should be “considered by the full court in open court, and the Applicants given any opportunity to make good their case at least on arguability.”

Today, I was sent a link to .....

Watch "Bill Gates & Fauci Wicked Agenda Exposed!! People Need to Take This Everywhere." on YouTube
Millions apparently watched it...but guess what - before I had a chance to watch it, it was removed. Speaks volumes!

People are turning away from watching TV especially the BBC and not relying on newspapers either. Better to watch Anna Brees on You Tube and her great effort to ensure that ordinary people are able to have a voice and send in their videos and tell the truth of their experiences and thoughts. She once worked for the BBC so she has a lot of insight.

As for Covid, it is not just going to just disappear like someone else said.
Hydroxychloroquine if given in early stages has now proven to have worked (doctors have said so). This has been used safely for over the last 60 plus years. Ask your GP?

Sussexborn

Maisie : Do you seriously think any other political party would have coped any better? Labour seems to be intent on destroying their own party and would probably still be arguing who should be in charge and then issuing court proceedings against whichever poor sucker they decided on. Starmer is struggling to get a grip and only half the party seem to be supporting him. Their gigantic egos are killing off any support they may have left.

Yes. Well they couldn’t have done any worse. The statistics speak for themselves.

Christingle Wed 05-Aug-20 15:05:18

You are right. This has never been about saving lives it's all about the economy. The scientists are largely ignored. While people keep on ignoring basic advice this will never be under control. We need to learn to live with Covid, it's going no where. We can as a society control the levels, but only if advice is followed,

Aepgirl Wed 05-Aug-20 14:18:22

My thoughts exactly JenniferEccles. Isn’t’ it amazing how everybody becomes an expert when others are having to make life-changing decisions.

I’m fed up with the back biting.

moggie57 Wed 05-Aug-20 14:09:32

its not the over 50's that have to self isolate ,its the age group 18-35 that should isolate .i have never seen so many people like sardines on the train to brighton last week... i was going to worthing and had to change trains at brighton...(west sussex). one or two had face masks, but the rest didnt ....really stupid....

I feel very lucky to be having a nurse appointment next week for pemonia jab. My surgery told me back last year i should have it done as over 65, i didnt realise i was eligable. Since Dec 19 have been trying to have it but they never had any supplies. On the off chance i emailed them on Monday and they rang and booked me in for next Monday. I will ask for BP to be checked whilst i am there. Have this done 6monthly normally. Not on meds thank goodness, but all my siblings have high bp so i just like to keep a eye on it.

GreenGran78 Wed 05-Aug-20 13:10:47

I agree with your sentiments, Gillybob. What is happening to all the people who are normally being treated in GPs' surgeries and out-patients departments?
I was contacted by my GP to have my annual checkup. I had to buy a blood pressure machine, because they aren't lending them out any more. The surgery was closed when I called with the completed form, so I had to put it through the letterbox. I had by blood checked, by appointment, at a very quiet out-patients department.
My GP phoned to say that my blood-pressure is a bit higher than they would like. She wants me to start on medication.
I have been unable to take proper exercise for a while, because I have a painful knee. Because of this I have put on weight, and my general health is suffering. They won't arrange for a cortisone injection which I usually have every six months. and which takes away the pain.
She said that there was a risk of infection if I have the injection. When I pointed out there there was a bigger risk of having heart problems because of my lack of exercise there was a silence. Then she said that she would forward a prescription for the blood-pressure tablets to my pharmacy.

Economy before life's .

johnsonfamily38 Wed 05-Aug-20 12:58:53

The "Government" should have made the rules simple - if you are outside your own home then you must wear a mask; unless you are eating or drinking, then stay 2m apart.

Xrgran Wed 05-Aug-20 12:58:38

There isn’t a serious concerted effort to get the virus under control.
For the second time this week I’ve been criticised for wearing a mask today in a local shop they told me they are leaving it up to people to decide to wear a mask or not WTF? Police are not pursuing shop keepers or people who won’t comply.Who do I report a shop who isn’t enforcing mask wearing? Absolutely nothing I can do.
Supermarkets are full of family groups with kids running about no masks touching everything. We were asked for just one person to shop but that’s completely gone now.
This behaviour is going to bring about another lockdown and more misery. Getting back to ‘normal’ was never a possibility with this virus about, but we continue to whine on like children because or freedoms have been curtailed and we want to throw a tantrum because everything is s..t. We must grow up.

chrissyh Wed 05-Aug-20 12:54:02

Well said Jennifer Eccles. Totally agree.

Plunger Wed 05-Aug-20 12:35:22

Which scientists should the government follow? There as many differing opinions as mutations of Covid19. The government is damned if they do and damned if they don't. If lockdown had been brought in earlier I believe a majority would have ignored it. Only when it really hit did people sit up and take notice. You just have to look at how many ignored lockdown even with the rising numbers infected and deaths.

Bobdoesit Wed 05-Aug-20 12:29:42

JenniferEccles spot on. It's a shame all the 'know it all's' aren't running the country they would have got it all right - not!

Flakesdayout Wed 05-Aug-20 12:29:32

The sad thing about all this is the fact that the economy is struggling, we are getting conflicting messages from our Government, people are still getting infected/dying and there seems to be a certain portion of the population that thinks masks/social distancing are not essential and that the virus has gone. We must get on top of this and listen to the virologists. We need strong leadership with some sensible guidance, if not we will still see squabbling over death and infection rates for a long time to come.
